Favorite Strings

Snake Oil Strings...best I have ever used. They feel smoother, sound more vibrant and alive, have incredible warmth without losing clarity. They also last and last. I have one set that I am going on 2 months now without a string change. No loss of tone, no discoloration...nothing.

I'm so convinced I bought annother 10 packs at 8.50 a pack.

+1 for SOS!

Re: Favorite Strings

I consistently play Ernie Ball 9-42's. The SUPER SLINKIES.

I've only spent real time with two other brands, those being Elixir and D'Addario, and well, here I am.

The Elixir's webbing came off after a week or two, which was a huge letdown. The D'Addario's felt unlively to my finger's after comparing them with EB's. Definetely, still great strings, but I just prefer the feel and response of EB's.

WebStrings

I do an order about twice a year. The strings are consistently good, their customer service is top notch and I probably save at least 66% doing it this way.

I usually do an order of 25 10's and 25 11's and maybe some acoustic ones as well.

I save a ton of money and only have to worry about needing to get strings twice a year.

Re: Favorite Strings

EB 11's (power slinkeys) for my 335
D'Addario 10 XL's for my Am strat
Elixir 12's for my Accoustic

Great tone all around.

Re: Favorite Strings

I have to tell all of who are spending $5 a pack on strings...Snake oils will last 2-3 x's as long, for only slightly more. You'll be amazed not only at the life of the string, but the tone.

This is just one of those amazing products (to me anyhow) that is too cool not to share.

Re: Favorite Strings

I'm using Dr tite fits on my 7 string right now Custom 10-60 set, but I'm about to put in an order to juststrings and put some other brands through the paces. D'addarios are alright but they seem rather lifeless, and don't feel good. Ernie Balls are nice, good tone, nice feel, but they rust out fairly soon. GHS strings, are beautiful out of the pack but quickly lose everything about them. DR's love all of them, putting 11-50 pure blues's back on my strat and 10-46 pure blues's on my Les Paul. I need to try out some of them Snake Oils, and I've really been itching to get a set of Thomastic-Infeld's.

Re: Favorite Strings

My new set of strings are D´addario XL 120 .10 strings which are awesome but i want o try a heavier gauge, what do you people think.

Re: Favorite Strings

I've been using GHS Boomers for years. They set-up on a floyd real fast and stay in tune. In 7 years using them I have only broken a string twice while playing, an I'm a two-step-bend-and-shake-the-whammy-to-death kind of guy...

I've tried every brand I can get my hands on. GHS do it...

When I had an acoustic, I liked the Thomastik-Infeld Plectrum Bronze. Beautiful tone for ages... a bit pricy tho...

XL120's are 9-42

If you want heavier, try the XL110 (10-46) or XL140 (10-52)

Or you can throw caution to the wind and try a set of GHS Zakk Wylde Boomers 11-70... :)

Re: Favorite Strings

D'Addario's the only brand that's ever broken on me, I've used Ernie Balls every other time except for my H-207 came with brand new D'Addarios that broke the next day...I did have them file the bridge down, but still :p

me too. the only one left i really wanna try is elixirs. but other than that, GHS always wins. have the best combination of durability (both in cleanliness and breakage), tone, and feel out of everything ive tried. and i beat the hell out of my strings! haha. i fret and pick very hard
