Second from the top, that's the late 90's/early 2000's trans tube 120 watt right? How's the clean channel on that? I've been thinking of picking one up to use as a backup head at shows. I know the bandits, and studio 112's from the same series/era sounded insanely good (not even just for SS, just straight good). I've had a few ofthe combos over the years, an always liked them. Yet always end up giving them to people, for whatever reason. But I've never had a chance to really get to know one of the heads. They as good as the combos?

Yes, that's the Supreme Transtube. I just got it today, so I haven't fired it up yet, but I got it to replace a Bandit 112. It's basically a silver Sheffield Bandit head. Lower down in the pile is the XXL, that adds a 3rd channel, but I've rarely used it. As much as I like the "broots", the Ultra channel has more than enough gain.
The one on the bottom is the Supreme 160, which is the teal pre-Transtube model Bandit in a head format.

I always thought peaveys were good heads its the combos I never liked probably because of the speakers they use...Anyways nice collection!!!

Speakers end up being about 30% of your tone. Since I run these through cabinet IRs, it's like I have access to every speaker and microphone out there, so I can use any of these to craft some killer sounds. Solid state amps get a bad rap because they're so cheap in price, but they're not all bad. If you take a decent solid state head and run it through a good cabinet, you can find some great sounds. There's a reason ISP Theta amps cost nearly $2k, and it's not the tubes.
Speakers end up being about 30% of your tone. Since I run these through cabinet IRs, it's like I have access to every speaker and microphone out there, so I can use any of these to craft some killer sounds. XXL is solid state, you're thinking of the XXX (which is tube, and originally was George Lynch's signature amp. It's been renamed the 3120, just like the 5150 was renamed the 6505.)
Knob placement wise, they're pretty similar:
The XXL actually has 3 different modes for each of the three channels, making it seem like it has 9 channels total.

That one is a solid state preamp with a tube power amp, right? That goes exactly against the way I work.
I usually use tube amps (with a load) into the computer via the effects loop.

I've got the Supreme XL, which seems to be the predecessor to the XXL - Transtube circuitry, three position switches on each channel to let you set it to different voicings, but just two channels. But between just those two channels, it's got two different clean tones, and can do decent Stevie Ray Vaughn, Van Halen, Metallica, and of course singing sustaining shred tones.
Sometimes I get GAS for the three additional voicings available on an XXL.
