Fender CS 69 Pickups AY vs SD Psychedelic Strat Pickups

Hey there!

This is a question for anyone who owns or has experience with the Custom Shop Psychedelic Strat pickups!

I currently own a set of Fender Custom Shop 69' pickups wound by Abigail Yarra, and love the sound that I get from them. But the other week I saw that the SD Custom Shop makes a set of Psychedelic Strat pickups. I am a huge fan of Seymour Duncan Pickups so these appeal to me very much so, but as I live in Australia, these pickups with the conversion rate could be quite expensive. So what I want to know is how much different from the fender CS69 are they? Would there be any notable differences sonically compared with the CS69's?

And apart from the RWRP option, what else could I expect with these pickups?

Also if i were to purchase these, would it be worth getting the bridge pickup 5% hotter to compensate for the volume loss and to tame the high-end? or is 5% barely noticeable?

Cheers!

5% is noticeable but if you want the vintage thing, the pups were all about the same. if you dont care about the vintage thing then get the 5% and dont worry about it. either way they will sound great

I cant comment on the psychedelic set specifically, but i kinda dig the old fashioned non overwound, all the same output strat sound. So much more clarity and character from the guitar. Yes, hotter pickups give you more push and mids, but when you gain something, you also lose something. I guess it really comes down to the kinds of tones you are after. If you do order a set tho im keen to hear what your impressions are, but id also like to say that non rwrp is really cool too on any strat pups if you can get them custom like that.
