Fender Custom Shop '69 equivalents?

Re: Fender Custom Shop '69 equivalents?

is everyone sure the 1969 CS PU's don't come with a reverse wound middle? Along the same lines i own a 1966 Custom Shop strat and it has the 3 way switch that if you leave in the middle you get hum canceling... the middle on my 66 is RWRP

makes me wonder if the 69's are the same...

That's wierd? I'd expect for you to get hum canceling if you set your 3 way switch in between the 1 and 2 AND 2 and 3 positions OR between the Neck and Middle or the Middle and Bridge positions if the middle pup was RW/RP from the other two pups. ALSO, at one time I had the standard (AY) initialed Fender CS 69' set, and I don't ever remember the set as ever having hum canceling in the 2 or 4 positions of my 5 way switch. I most assuredly would remember as I own only 1 out of 5 Stratocasters that DO NOT have the RW/RP middle pup (only having installed pup sets that specifically don't have a RW/RP middle pup for this particular strat guitar).

ya i was surprised the 66 Custom Shop strat i have bought has the RWRP middle... i just leave the 3-way in-between for hum canceling... like some players used to do before the 5way was stock

My '95 Strat with the SSL-2's does have the RW/RP and you can hear the reduction in hum when using those positions. My two vintage 70's Strats do not. You still get the Quack sounds, either way. They just sound different, more to do with the pickups versus the winding style.
