Hey everyone. I'm looking for ANY clips of a Fender Hot Rod in action. Clean or distorted clips welcome. And could you also specify the model of the Hot Rod, and the guitar/pups being used? Thanks alot.

Re: Fender Hot Rod Clips?

hey i was wondering if any of you Hot Rod owners can do some hard rock clips with the Hot Rod... With pedals of course, cuz im pretty sure that the Hot Rod would need that boost in gain.

I just am curious of how well it sounds with pedals

Also some more blues clips please would be cool

Thanks

Re: Fender Hot Rod Clips?

soulman thats some crazy stuff dude

loving it lots

Im still pretty torn on what amp i should purchase... I think the Hot Rod was excellent with the pedals u used, but weakened without the added gain of pedals... Great cleans, but Id need a good pedal for sure

There are 2 other amps Im interested in, a Marshall DSL and Peavey Triple XXX... I've tried the DSL a couple of times, and I like it a lot, I dont think id need a pedal based on what I've played at the Guitar Center... Ive heard lots of clips of the Triple XXX though never played one myself

Im more of a blues man, but I like kickin up the gain for hard rock blues kinda stuff like slash or satch

By the way, wat pedals were u using on BOTH minor blues solos??? Pickups??? Cuz Im liking the tone lots!!! Gimme info bro!

Hey Stevie,

I can feel your angst, man.

Your problem can be solved, but how depends on your budget.

The Fender Hot Rod Deluxe + a pedal or two and maybe a speaker upgrade is a cost effective, workhorse solution that works very well in a variety of situations.

I have used it in blues, rock, funk, indie bands and it works fine, because it has a great clean channel that takes very well to pedals.

On the clip you heard I was using a Strat bridge single coil with a Boss SD-1 (808 mod) into a ProCo RAT2 into the clean channel of the Hot Rod.

As far as the amps overdive channel, I'd say it's the perfect amp for Springsteen type rock. I heard a song of his on the radio today and I could have sworn the guitar was played through a Hot Rod.

However there are better amps out there that cost more money.

You basically want an amp that has a good bluesy crunch that can go into screaming high gain rock, right?

I'd say look into:

Marshall DSL 50 (used by Gary Moore, Jeff Beck)
Marshall Silver Jubilee (used by Slash, Joe Bonamassa)
for heads
and
Rivera Chubster
Mesa Boogie F50
Mesa Boogie Lonestar
Fender Prosonic
for combos.

Let me know how you decide. :)

Hey thanks bro! I appreciate it lots

Anyways, I don't have much of a limit... It is great being 16 and having a job, all the money is just gravy. I can do with it what i want... However, I dont wanna buy something thats like $1500-$2000... That is just ridiculous, especially for a 16 year old. Anyways, I figure I can spend aroud $1000, even tho I'd rather pay less like most people would.

I've tried the DSL 50 once or twice, and I really enjoyed using it. I've also used the Hot Rod, but it, like i said before, sounded good clean, but the drive channels didn't do much for me. Overall with the DSL, I do remember thinkin the clean wasnt half bad, but Im not entirely sure whether or not I thought it was good for me...

I might just buy too amps hahahah I'd rather have one good amp, rather than a bunch of ok amps.

I will be sure to let ya kno what i decide thanks again for the help:)

Re: Fender Hot Rod Clips?

hey guys i was just wondering how the drive channel sounds boosted with a ts-9 ibanez tubescreamer? what i wanna prolly do is use the drive channel for rythm, then add on another gain stage with the ts-9 for solos, works well on my marshall!
