New Evoution neck pickup. Sounds fluid, a nice neck tone with lots of clarity. I might be losing it, but it seems to sustain better.

Re: Fender Jaguar HH Glamour Shots II

Got your Vai vibe with the upper 4 frets scalloped, eh? Nice going on the neck too, nothing feels as good as raw.

Did you install vintage style tuners or did the come stock?

I look at this guitar and think, 'yep'.

Re: Fender Jaguar HH Glamour Shots II

If you go by Larry DiMarzio's millivolt statistics, the Super 2 has higher output than the Evo N but with a lot of emphasis towards the treble frequencies. The Evo has a far more even balance of the frequencies. This should compliment the Alder rather better AND give your distortion pedals something to get their teeth into.

Haha, yes.

I thought that scalloping the highest frets was a good idea because It was kind of hard for me to play those higher notes with any kind of control over the string in terms of bending and vibrato. It used to be hard to shake the notes. I did the work myself, I think it turned out pretty good. It functions and doesn't look too bad.

As for the back of the neck, I sanded some of it for better feel, then some parts started wearing off on their own. I guess that my thinning the finish made it more susceptible to wear. I remember when I sanded it, I was pretty scared. I had never put sandpaper on a higher value guitar before, only MIM standard type deals.

The vintage style tuners came stock, I would use some sort of locking tuners if I could. I like the Schaller ones.

Dayum son. That's fap material.

the sound is ridiculous now, this guitar has always sounded great, with all kinds of humbuckers, but there's something about this Super D and Evolution combination that really makes the guitar cut through, the Super Distortion has also added all sorts of low and low mid frequencies to the sound, a great improvement.

You sure do like your Jaguars. That's a good looking piece man.

Thank you, I've been considering another one for my next guitar purchase around early 2014.

I didn't like the higher output of the Super 2. I liked how the sound was brighter, but that was about it. Sometimes it reminded me of a single coil, it had sort of a "hollow" sound at times.

The Super 2 was sometimes louder than my Super Distortion, which is ridiculous. The Super Distortion breaks up everything I play my guitar through, I have a line 6 interface which I use for demos. When you turn on the tuner you hear the direct sound, the Super D always breaks up. It always seems to hit the interface really really hard.

The Evo balances well with the Super Distortion, it also sounds very fluid.

I can't lie, in my research, a good chunk of what made me decide on the evolution is Vai's sound. His "Evo" guitar is alder.

Re: Fender Jaguar HH Glamour Shots II

That will make almost as much difference to the tone as your choice of strap. :D

Yeah, with a square heel it can be tricky getting the right grip on those last two frets.

As for tuners, if you want something locking while keeping the look of the guitar and not having to drill extra holes, check out Gotoh SD91 or SDS510. They're Kluson style six in a line lockers.

I'd hit it.

The Evo neck is super underrated.

Is that a tattoo parlor?

That's a little chest/ottoman in my girlfriend's living room.

The evolution neck is amazing. I'm going to post a song I'm working on with some unusual guitar sounds. all the evolution neck.
