Fender Kurt Cobain Jaguar

Re: Fender Kurt Cobain Jaguar

I thought Cobain used a Paf Pro in the neck, you know before he started to use JB instead of super d.

Re: Fender Kurt Cobain Jaguar

It's not a good version of it anyway, Fender is claiming it's a replica but the neck pickup position is off.

You would think they could get something simple like that correct. :banghead:

Looks like it could be corrected easily with another guard.

Standard PAF in Neck.

The Bridge Pickup was changed to a JB and the guitar was never again played on stage. Make what you will of that.

When you hear the guitar on the records it is the Super Distortion roar.

source for that info?

BTW at least the 'replica' is nowhere near as expensive as the EVHs Frankenstrats

Just search through every concert photo after the time Earnie Bailey installed the JB.

Edit: If you mean the PAF

From KCSEQ http://www.kurtsequipment.com/

1). Kurt's main guitar during the Nevermind era was a 1965 sunburst (red faded out) Fender Jaguar (41), serial # 95747 (59). Had a red-swirl mother-of-bowling-ball pickguard (seen many 15), 2 volume knobs,1 tone knob, and a black chrome Schaller bridge (57)(41). There was tape covering (what used to be) the on/off and phase switches. These three switches were replaced with a Gibson-style toggle switch (15)(59). Full-sized humbuckers reside in both the bridge and neck positions, the neck being a DiMarzio PAF and the bridge a DiMarzio Super Distortion (57)(41) until the In Utero tour when it was replaced with a black Duncan JB.

Re: Fender Kurt Cobain Jaguar

I haven't even followed the link but I bet it isn't even available left-handed...

EDIT: Oh snap, it actually is. Which can only mean one thing. It's priced waaaayyyy out of my range.

how could they not include a lefty model in a COBAIN signature

Re: Fender Kurt Cobain Jaguar

I would suck wang for that lower bout 3way switch plate.

I want the plate too but I would pay money.

Actually, want I really want is the Johnny Marr switchplate. (Four-way lever type. Bridge, both, neck Both in Series!)

Re: Fender Kurt Cobain Jaguar

Very nice, and I've always liked Jazzmasters, but for far less cash I think I'd just seek out an MIJ and mod it up.

I could use the leftover funds to plant a house, or build a tree.

I don't even care. We could have all three she said.

Remember, I'm the humbucker-jag kid.

Has anyone seen the video of this song at reading?

Re: Fender Kurt Cobain Jaguar

I used to own the Jagstang - always felt a little more Mustang. Very low action on the guitar to the point where it could barely be detuned but it played really nice. Definately prefer the Jaguar.

Re: Fender Kurt Cobain Jaguar

I just saw this too. Funny, cobain probably would have despised having a sig guitar

Hello...JAG-STANG!!! When set up properly w/a pickup change they were pretty cool...use to have a pair of Original Issue/First Year Fiesta Red ones.

Re: Fender Kurt Cobain Jaguar

I was all hot for a Jag-Stang until I actually got to play one. The body shape was too "out there" for me when actually playing it.

I will have to check this one out when it hits stores.

Re: Fender Kurt Cobain Jaguar

I'm a huge Nirvana freak. I just can't play a guitar with such a tiny scale. That's why I couldn't groove with the JagStang, which was otherwise such a cool guitar.

on the replica it's like on my jaguar, but in reality i think it's a little closer to the bridge and about a millimeter slanted
