Fender Lite Ash Telecaster

The Korean made Samick one that comes pre-loaded with SD pickups.

Is it any good? I've found one for a really great price and I love the 52 blonde look.

I played one on friday at Guitar Center. I loved it. The one I played was also on sale, if I had the cash I would of bought it.

I just got one second hand myself. I like it a lot. The only problem with mine is that the upper most frets need some work. But other than that I am really pleased with the guitar.

Re: Fender Lite Ash Telecaster

I was very near to purchasing the Ash Strat of the same making, but this is what I discovered.

Look closely at the craftsmanship. Especially where the fretboard is glued to the neck itself. The frets seemed a little shoddy as well. Not even of the Squire quality! I looked around the body and noticed some blemishes in the finish also.

If you like it, then by all means grab it. I found some nice standards for just a few dollars more that played significantly better. Since you can swap pups, but can't necessarily fix all the deficiencies, I opted for better craftsmanship of the strat.

As with all opinions, take mine with a grain of salt. I just wanted to offer a different vantage point so you could make an informed decision.

Good Luck on your purchase!

Re: Fender Lite Ash Telecaster

I have one. It's a lot of guitar for the money. The best part about it is the wood. Light swamp ash body. Birdseye neck. Birdseye fingerboard. And for a street price under six-bills?

Here's a picture of mine:

If they skimped anywhere is the switch and pots. I'm changing those out on mine. Actually, Seymour is routing out the rhythm pickup cavity and I'm going to drop an SM-1n Vintage Mini-Humbucker in there. I'll let you know how it goes.

And they're made by Cort, not Samick, for what it's worth.

Lots of neck issues with them. I posted before but a GC guy I know told me they are sending a ton back with bad necks. Get on in hand and really check it out before purchase. They are lovely, but a bad neck is a bad neck.

Re: Fender Lite Ash Telecaster

I played one at GC too and thought the sound and quality was excellent. The finish is beautiful and the tones I was getting out of it was very flexible. I played some bluesy stuff and turned on some gain and played some heavy stuff and those pups sounded great. I was going to pick one up, but guitar center's stuff is so funky and damaged, I have a hard time buying from them...

Re: Fender Lite Ash Telecaster

I bought one used from Guitar Center a little over a week ago and love it. I got lucky and stumbled across a good one. For the $350 I paid it's probably the best bang for the buck guitar I've gotten.
