Fender M-80 Head and Cabnet: HELP

Kac

Hootersologist
My friend, who is a bass player, owns a guitar amp that he would like to sell to me for $300.
It is a Fender M-80 ???Watt Head and 4X12 Cabnet.
I would like some help trying to figure out how many watts the head is..
I know it's a 2 channel stereo solid state amp with reverb and it has the matching stereo cabnet.
It sounds great and based on the volume I was getting from it compared to other solid states I have played I think it's at least 100 watts.... but I could be wrong. Can anyone help me find how many watts this amp is.
(I did look at the amp and didn't see if it said how many watts it was, I will take a better look before I buy it.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Re: Fender M-80 Head and Cabnet: HELP

I believe my 2x12 is from the M series, is it covered in a gray carpeting and big black plastic corners?

Mine was stereo ready, made in the USA, and from the 80's. Kickass little cabinet, with the right speakers.

Re: Fender M-80 Head and Cabnet: HELP

Oh, BTW, I got mine for 115 with original speakers in NOS shape.

Re: Fender M-80 Head and Cabnet: HELP

Yeah, grey carpet with plastic corners, it's a full 4X12 cabnet. Also made in the USA. All the controls are on the font of the head. I like how the power switch is on the front since all the fender amps I've owned have had the power switch on the back.
I looked around the net for a while and couldn't find a definite # for how many watts this baby has....
So, anybody's help would be appreciated.

Yeah, I was really happy with the distortion when I was jamming on this one. Very nice crunch. It's what I'm looking for, but I would still like to know how many watts it has.

wixomwhat said:
M-80's are 80 watts.
That's somewhat dissapointing.. I found a couple combo M-80's with 1 12" speaker that said they were 80 watts, I also saw some heads like this one that said they had more wattage... Oh well, It sounds good, and if it is 80watts, thats a loud 80 watts for a solid state amp.

Re: Fender M-80 Head and Cabnet: HELP

I could be wrong but thats how many watts I remeber them to be. I really wanted one for a while so I knew all about them. But check what people say on Harmony central and maybe find a fender schematic online and it might say too.

Re: Fender M-80 Head and Cabnet: HELP

Ok, what I've found about hte head specificly is that it's either an 80 watt, or it has 2 60 watt power sections, or it has 2 65 watt power sections...
So it's either 80, 120, or 130 watts...

Re: Fender M-80 Head and Cabnet: HELP

I'd say its probably 80watts but with 140watts peak.

I had a fender stage 112se which was 100 watts, with 160peak.
So 100watts with one cab in use, 160 with 2.

So Yours mite be 80watts with one cab, and 140 with 2?

Re: Fender M-80 Head and Cabnet: HELP

I use the M-80 pro head. It's 80 watts. I've used it for ~14 years and love it.

Re: Fender M-80 Head and Cabnet: HELP

There´s also an M-80 Bass head with 160(?)W. I own one, and i´m pretty sure 160 was "final output"...;)

Thank you very much, so you can just power one cabnet with that, correct?

Re: Fender M-80 Head and Cabnet: HELP

I just carried this bad boy down to my basement (practice area), and DAMN:32:, it is way louder than my FM212 100 watt combo amp...

It's definetly more than 80 watts solid state...
Therefore.
I finally got good look at the back it says 2 60 watt power sources, one for each side of the cabnet since it is all true stereo.

I'm Lovin' It. I know the rest of family won't but that's why it has a headphones jack.
