Fender Princeton

I just traded for a Fender Princeton Amp. Does anyone have any knowledge on these amps?

The fuse is blown on it, where do I start to trouble shoot this issue?

Any good web sites for it?

Thanks, Tim

This would be a good place to start: http://www.ampwares.com/ffg/

A Priceton is an excellent Amp. If my memory serves my correct, I believe Wes Montgomery played thru a Princeton. The only Mod was he changed it to a 15: speaker. When I read that I wasn't sure if a 15" would actually fit, but supossedly that is what he used.

Re: Fender Princeton

That's a GREAT AMP !! I've owned one now for around ten years. It take
a 1 amp SLO-BLO fuse. If the fuse keeps blowing right away? the problem
is most likely in the power section or the output tranny. I'd take it to a
good tech A.S.A.P. ! One Must have mod is to blue print the Phase Inverter
section. The stock Fender design is unbalenced. This mod get both tubes
running efficently. Torres engineering sells it as the `Perfect prince mod'
If you feel up to D.I.Y. Next, Put a good set of 6V6s in it. I use N.O.S.
JAN 6V6's (getting harder to find and pricey :smack: ) But there is other
good tubes out there. Next? lose the speaker !! I just ordered a Weber
Cali 10" (BTW: No way ya can get a 15" in it. Wes must have used a ext.
cab?) You could squease a 12" in it If you carve it up ( I wouldn't) Good
Luck with it. :D

Re: Fender Princeton

Thanks, kmc.

Probably take it to my local shop and let them service it. It was used by a steel guitar player(older gent) and he said it it just started popping fuses one day. No telling if it has ever been serviced.
