Finally a Dean I like...

One compliment I will give Dean. I like the pots/jack in a line like that. I wish the switch were down there too.

Switch in the usual Explorer spot on the lower front horn looks cool, but I hate the miles of unnecessary, additional wiring needed. And it has to go behind the pickups. And your hand isn't going to be anywhere near that location while playing, logically.

Easiest guitar I ever wired was my 94 BC Rich NJ Mockingbird. Switch, pots, and jack all in a straight line. Very short wire runs. Very easy to work on and fix.

Not a huge dinner fan myself, but I think these headstocks are big and beautiful!
It's like having a baby flying V on the end! Ha ha ha.

I nearly pulled the trigger on one of those MIke Amott Tyrant's years ago....procrastinated and it was gone. I should've done it :(

The only Guitar I'm lacking is a V..... and while I prefer asymmetrical ones (pointy) w/ Floyds in general...this would've done just fine.

It is painted over. I have no idea what wood it is. It is a pretty bright guitar, as most inexpensive Deans are. I thought about possibly upgrading the electronics to something more mid-heavy, but I don't know if I want to spend the $$ on such an inexpensive guitar.

Im not sure how much I dont like the Dean Guitar looks -because I have trouble being objective on this

1) I have met and interacted with Dean Z ( I know he is not involved any more) and he's not someone I would ever consider helping promote his name

2) By the time I played a "Dean" in the 90s, they were terrible guitars in that era -Pawn Shop crap -they were a joke -I know they are way better now -but I still associate them with ugly crap.

But I see ones now that look good and I know that they are good guitars now

It is probably the same series. Here is my 'Flying Bee' (my name for it)

I remember that green bass having a painted fretboard (which I considered odd) and possibly the back of the neck was green too. It was either a new guitar deliberately done in a throwback style or a very, very clean NOS specimen.

And the bees do need a lot of help.

The Thoroughbred isn't too bad. Is this one Gibson sued over?
