Finally put together my Gunslinger. tribute

I know, ya'll gonna whine cuz I dont have photos yet.. Hopefully in a few days.. Besides it isnt that rad of a project, but VERY VERY deeply special...
Sorry for the long read.

For those who dont know the origin: I have a bud that bought a BC Rich Gunslinger reissue in yellow.. I love that friggin thing! His came with the Super D. I wanted one in black but don't have the money.. I found a brand new B stock on ebay at a great price and got it with some money I got selling another axe. (tiny little spec chip) But it also came with the Rockfield mafia.. Ok, but nothing special.. I wanted to update it. I love black and purple and was gonna go with a purple crunch lab in it. But, since funds are tight, I also considered using a pup I had already. And, I ran a poll and most everyone said go with the Duncan..
Now, the tribute part.. This past friday, I learned that my older brother, (only sibling I have) has a very aggressive brain cancer. He is a lifelong Oakland Raider fan... So, I went with a Black guitar, black Dunlops, chrome pup ring and Duncan Crazy 8. Like I said, not a radical mod, but looks great and sounds ripping..
I contemplated a raider sticker, but I just cant do stickers on a guitar..

Anyhow, will toss up some photos when I can.. Its been crazy around home as you can imagine.. Plus, Im sick...

Sounds killer, man. I love the idea behind it. Can't wait to see the pics.

Re: Finally put together my Gunslinger. tribute

I thought of Clint Eastwood when i read the title...

But I can't wait to see it, I am ver touched by the fact its being dedicated to a member of your family, that's great :)

I also wish you and your family through the bad times and the difficult ones which lay ahead, you have my full sympathy.

Best wishes, and I hope this Axe is sweet :)

Bruce.

Re: Finally put together my Gunslinger. tribute

That must be amazing Bro. My thoughts though are with your brother. I am deeply sorry, I too have a brother and after several consecutive deaths in the family the few of us that are left are all the more precious.

Hang in there, both for yourself as well as for him.

Though I must say, 2010 has NOT been a good year for ANYTHING...

Re: Finally put together my Gunslinger. tribute

Oh! Hang in there! Actions like yours can make a difference and I wish it will for the best!

Re: Finally put together my Gunslinger. tribute

I wanted to also mention motivation behind this too. My bro has a 68 Chevy Nova that he has built up. Street legal drag car pushing 850 hp. Has been his life's work and he loves it. Its a black supersport. Another reason this is black and simple. I may put a SS logo on it in the future.
It plays fast! And now I have it dialed in, the crazy 8 kills in it!
Thanks for the good wishes all.

Re: Finally put together my Gunslinger. tribute

The Crazy 8 kills in practically ANYTHING!

I just love that pickup! :)

Re: Finally put together my Gunslinger. tribute

That sounds awesome! Can't wait to see pics!
Sorry to hear about your brother, though. Best wishes. My thoughts are with you and your family.

I May get a SS logo and put on it.

Re: Finally put together my Gunslinger. tribute

Cool! Gunslingers and ESP Mirages are the only Superstrats I ever liked. Dig the black out looks very rich.

Re: Finally put together my Gunslinger. tribute

Thanks all! not a radical change from stock tho. Sounds awesome with the Crazy 8. I dial in a tiny bit of mids on the amp and it just sings!

I may try to get some pics of my brothers car to show the reference if I can. Having hard time getting pics put up due to comp probs. His car is a 68 Chevy Nova SuperSport. black on black with most of the trim blacked out. Except little things like the rims (aluminum) and hood pins. (thats why the chrome ring) Has a fiberglass hood with a 68 z28 style cowl. I cant recall the engine size right now, but I believe he said its pushing about 850 horses. Its been his labor of love for about 25 years. He has it almost done where he wants it. He has decided on a different carb and has that to put on and should be done. It sounds like freaking thunder when he fires it up . I believe the pipes are about 4 inch diameter. (Thats why the Crazy 8. Hot and ripping! and 8 from 68) It just seemed fitting to do this..
