Here's the rundown:
Schecter C-1 Exotic Star
25.5" scale
Mahogany body (heavy!)
neck-through, ebony fretboard
I play mostly hard/heavy rock and metal. Tunings range from Drop B to Drop G#, depending on what mood I'm in and what songs I'm using the guitar for in my band. I use 6505+ head and a Mesa Boogie Triple Rectifier interchangeably through a mesa oversize 412 cab loaded with V30's. My other Schecter is a C-1 classic with a JB in the bridge and I absolutely love that guitar/tone, but i'm looking for something different tonality wise in the exotic star. The tone sounds decent with stock pups through the 6505+ but entirely too muddy through the mesa. I don't want to have to adjust the EQ mid-show on my Mesa when switching guitars, so I want a pickup to balance out the warm, bassy sound of my exotic star but retain clarity and a good balance. Maybe a Duncan Distortion would be the best match to offset the overly bassy tendencies of the guitar? I don't like actives so blackouts are out of the question. I just want a balance of tone and fullness/clarity of notes. Thoughts/suggestions are greatly welcomed and many thanks! Also, I'm new to this neck of the woods on the SD forum.
