Might have been the Orange 2x12 that made all the difference. Those things will make almost any amp sound thick 'n juicy. Assuming all the other amps were open back combos, a significant part of the sound will have escaped away from the audience.
I also want to add something a little crazy;
I went to a high school recital of led Zeppelin songs and they had a mesa .50, a line 6 thing, a fender hot rod, and another amp that sounded better, projected better, and crunched better than the others.....an Orange mini terror thru an orange 2x12. Not the tiny, the mini. It sounded sooooo good. The rest just could not find traction on that stage.
