Fishman Fluence Classic set - My thoughts

If they are open core (cover less) versions they all have the 3 voices. With the covered versions the newer ones have the 3rd voice while the older ones had the HF tilt instead and had a a solder pad for splitting.

I don’t know the revision numbers though. I’m sure I could figure it out as I have probably 7 sets. There’s very little out there on the revisions and what the differences are. I don’t hear much difference between most of them though. Maybe someday Frank could walk us through the numbers. I know a lot of shops had older versions in stock for a long time at first.

It’s really cool that they keep on iterating but a little frustrating if you get the old version!

So I got the new (older) set of Fishman Classics. The neck is Rev 4.1 (which is the same as the newer set I already have), and the bridge is Rev 4.2. The bridge actually has the phase flipped compared to to the neck (and both the newer Rev 5.1 B/4.1 N Classic set I already had) which is unexpected... but it's kinda cool. I get some nasal Peter Green style tones from the middle position which I guess could be considered a "defect", but I actually kinda dig it. It's not like I use the middle position all that often, though.

Other than that, both Voice 1 and 2 in the bridge pickup sound pretty much the same as the newer ones. Perhaps a tiny bit brighter, but it could very well be the guitar itself.

Does your guitar with the reverse phase pickup have two volumes? Rolling back one of the volumes a little yields some pretty cool tones.

It does! I hadn't thought about that. I think it's a happy accident that the older revision has a flipped phase. Like I said, it's probably a "defect" that I could tell the seller about, but I actually like it.

Nice! I’d be happy with that defect, as well.

The forthcoming Greg Koch Fluence P90 set has the out of phase with one volume backed off as the default middle setting, with the sweet spot being adjustable.

^ Nice

As far as the sig models, Greg’s Tele set is modeled after an old white guard and an old black guard. I’m assuming his P90s will be really kickass P90s, not so much his ideal tone.

Also, the Tosin pickups are killer. I’m curious to try out the Keith Merrow set, too.

I’m interested in all three, the Merrow, Adler and Reyes.

I have an itch to get one of those LTD EC-1000 in vintage black for the Adlers.

Still got the ol tagger on it. It seems the same as the previous version?

That's interesting! Maybe I'll pick another set up in the future. Right now I have the Moderns in my RG570, but quite honestly, I like the Classics in my LTD's better. Might be a good opportunity to check either the Adler set or the newest revisions of the Classics out.
