Fishman Fluence Modern Humbucker -any updates, it's been a couple of years

Re: Fishman Fluence Modern Humbucker -any updates, it's been a couple of years

if I could interject that Pepe has been a known commodity around this and other guitar-related boards for quite a while. for some time, I know that I've seen him prove himself again and again. and while he chases tone in a slightly different direction that I do, I do consider him to be one of the "wise old men" on the topic of pickups. I've talked to a boutique winder that was developing a set of pickups based on the demand for specs that Pepe has been preaching about for years and the rest of the world caught up to him. Pepe might not be everyone's "cup of tea" but he knows enough to be the one to not get into a pissing match with.

meanwhile, the thread has devolved into not much more than a series of insults. how is that happening? :thumbsdow

Yup, he kicked my butt again. I will cease and desist.

Played a Tele loaded with the Fluence set yesterday. A friend form Lompoc of all places stopped by on his way to LA for session work and he had his Tele with the Fluence pups that he obtained through connections he has.

Anyway, these fluence Tele pups are absolutely incredible! We played for about two hours trading off Tele's (mine has Custom Shop Twisted Pair). The Fluence simply blew away the TP's in my Tele. I have no idea what Fishman did to develop these pups but they truly outdid themselves. The V1 setting is a downright classic Tele sound with country twang in the bridge and nice solid mids and bass out of the neck. V2 is the real killer it has the punch of Tele with a HB neck, amazing sustain and an aggressive kick butt sound.

The Classics in my Les Paul sound great as I said before but nothing really earth shattering as they IMO are equivalent to Seth's and 59s. The Tele pups are definitely an advance in what I have ever heard come out of another Tele pup.

Going to sell a couple of guitars and extra pups I have. Buy another Tele and a set of these for sure. Anybody out there got a Tele they want to sell? Got to find a Tele.

Two words....

He and I certainly go in completely different directions as far as our end goals but Pepe is an endless source of knowledge and has certainly helped me on my path.

This forum is EXTREMELY lucky to have a whole bunch of dudes that are endless sources of knowledge. I'd list them but I know I'd forget a whole bunch in the process.

Calling Frank Falbo!

Hi Frank!

Are there somewhere illustrations or pictures about how the Fluences look like in the inside?

Inquiring minds would like to know. :cool2:

Re: Fishman Fluence Modern Humbucker -any updates, it's been a couple of years

There is an animation that suggests the general proportions of the Fluence pickup internals. Needless to say, this gives away nothing that the inquiring mind might really wish to see.

CUE: More fun as Frank tries to answer the questions without giving away any sensitive trade secrets.

TONY HANCOCK: Pay up and try to look big.

JENNIFER ANISTON: Because you're worth it.

Twice what I paid for the Classics...they sound awesome but I think I'll chase my sound down a more bluesy path.
I don't understand why they would cost double the Humbuckers. Heuristic marbles request to grasp.:boggled:

Re: Fishman Fluence Modern Humbucker -any updates, it's been a couple of years

Greg Koch gotta get paid too.

The Classic and Modern sets goes for around $250 on the street. The Tele set looks more like 50% more than 100% more.

Re: Fishman Fluence Modern Humbucker -any updates, it's been a couple of years

Y'all are making me super excited to try the Tele set. One thing I noticed is they have the battery included while other $250 sets sell the battery for $100 separate

I paid $185 for the classics and got a free Fender guitar cable to boot. That makes the Tele pups X2 as I can't find them anywhere for less than $350.

It's not really the signature that drives the price. The Tele set has the rechargeable battery integrated, plus the control plate, the push switch, the 3-way toggle, etc.

Re: Fishman Fluence Modern Humbucker -any updates, it's been a couple of years

Now Frank, what about answering all the pressing question that have been directed toward you?

And, the $250 pricing is the going rate for a new set for most any authorized retailer that is adhering to MAP pricing. Whatever deals on pre-owned or under-the-table retailers violating MAP pricing or other similar scenarios isn't applicable to the point that the pricing that Fishman suggests is NOT twice as much.

Why not a four way toggle so you can go series/parallel or doesn't that matter with Fluence? I sure do like the option on my Tele.

Re: Fishman Fluence Modern Humbucker -any updates, it's been a couple of years

Ok! So thanks to Darth I have the classic and modern sets at home in an unopened box. I'll be able to drop them off for install in about 2/3 weeks. I also am working with a dealer on the Tele set. Hopefully I'll be able to record A/B before and after samples of everything in late June or early July.

Re: Fishman Fluence Modern Humbucker -any updates, it's been a couple of years

Can someone expand on the sound of Voice 2 of the Classic bridge? Does it have the JB-like upper mid thing going on?
