Fixed bridge or Vintage Tremolo? Just curious.

Re: Fixed bridge or Vintage Tremolo? Just curious.

Either would word of course, but if you're not going to use the bar I would stick with a fixed bridge.

Re: Fixed bridge or Vintage Tremolo? Just curious.

unless the bar is set to float, I see no difference, honestly. if you dont need it, go with fixed though.

Re: Fixed bridge or Vintage Tremolo? Just curious.

Fixed bridge is less hassle, unless you are using the tremolo a lot then go for a fixed bridge. However there are exceptions if you have the choice between a PRS style wrap over bridge and a tremolo then take the tremolo every time.

vintage with springs god awful tight so as to keep bridge firmly mounted to the
body
this way in six months when the question comes to mind again you can just loosen the springs

ORRRR

get a Fixed bridge and "warp the neck" for occasional dives
just be shure to get a bolt on so when you break it you can replace it

both posts are indeed serious
I have done both

What is "twin lead"?

There is a big sound difference. With the metal tremolo sustain block you get less of some lower mids. Most of the times this is an advantage, in particular if you want to use neck pickups. There is some "boom" that is being removed. Of course for the bridge pickup that can remove some wanted body.

Also known as the Clapton method as that is how Eric has the trems on his strats set up.

Re: Fixed bridge or Vintage Tremolo? Just curious.

For playing mostly rhythm and twin leads parts. Hard Rock/Metal genre, '80s-90's. Which would work?

I'm puzzled. I'm seriously trying to understand.

What is the connection between playing rhythm and/or twin leads to the type of bridge you have on the guitar?

Is there any way that the type of bridge might help or limit your rhythm playing? or the twin lead playing?

:dunno:

+1. Vibratos have a detremental effect on tone quality; less string viration is transferred to the body. And too many guys get carried away with them and that gets annoying to listen to.

Nonsense.

Tremolos with sustain block change the sound dramatically not not in a manner that's good or bad.

Heavy toploaded pieces of metal might be a different matter.

That's why i hate his threads. Every question this guy asks is either way too vague to answer, or is such a stupid question that any attempt to answer it makes you look dumber.

You can use a guitar with a vibrato, a fixed bridge, or a floating bridge, or anything to play hard rock and leads. Everybody has known that since the 50's. If you had to ask that then you lack important cognitive abilities.

Which would work? Depends on if you can play or not. I'll take one of each please.
