Floyd Rose FIXED SPEEDLOADER

Re: Floyd Rose FIXED SPEEDLOADER

Not sure if only one company makes them. It could become an issue though down the road if you can't get those strings, so I see what you mean. But what's cool about these strings, besides the fact that you can change strings fast, is that they don't require stretching. They're cut to size and ready to rock on the Floyd Rose guitars.

Re: Floyd Rose FIXED SPEEDLOADER

It's a great idea, but I only know of one company that makes strings for them, plus they only come in 2 guages as far as I know...that makes it really hard to think about buying one. The bad thing is...I played one of the new Floyd Rose guitars, and except for the fact that there was NO tone control I really like them...the necks could have been fatter, but all in all they were good

Re: Floyd Rose FIXED SPEEDLOADER

The speedloaders have a great feature, a tremstopper that can block a floating floyd so it only pushes down, thus increasing sustain and tone. I was able to buy one for my original floyd, it kicks ass

Re: Floyd Rose FIXED SPEEDLOADER

Anyone know if you can put a speedloader on a normal guitar routed for an original Floyd, and then just string it up and use it normally? That tremstopper feature sounds like it could be very useful.

Re: Floyd Rose FIXED SPEEDLOADER

I'm with the other dudes. If I can't get Ernie Ball or DR strings for a Speedloader bridge, screw it. And what happens if they stop making them?

Re: Floyd Rose FIXED SPEEDLOADER

If enough people like the idea then other companies will make strings for it. I could see Floyd Rose eventually phasing out their old original series tremolo and making this the standard. Seems like it's one of those things to wait and see on. Eventually some company will make something like this that will become the standard. This just might not be the one.

Re: Floyd Rose FIXED SPEEDLOADER

the speedloader really is a very practical invention have it on my beast and it makes so much easier

Re: Floyd Rose FIXED SPEEDLOADER

Still cant get over the no machineheads thing... no denying its a good idea though.

Re: Floyd Rose FIXED SPEEDLOADER

@kyuss: you're right about the fact that it looks weird in the begining but once you get used to it you'll love the system for it's ease of use which is imo worth far more than the classic look

@usagi: at first, don't even consider picking up a beast if you think LPs are heavy. My NJ beast is just an import but since i got it for about half the price from a store closing down it's a cool backup form my Custom Stealth(allthough it's not going to be needed a lot). it's not the most comfortable guitar to play due to the shape and it's weight but it displays attitude. The feeling of the neck and fretboard is nice and good to play but the action was set pretty high from the factory which is uncomfortable for my style of playing. I never had problems with it except from the stock pickups which sucked and were replaced with duncans.

Re: Floyd Rose FIXED SPEEDLOADER

First off, why do this on a fixed bridge instrument?

Do we all have a really hard time stringing up our LP's and Tele's? I can't imagine what kind of tonal impact a bridge like that will have on a guitar.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for the trem version, but the hardtail version just seems silly. :smack:

Re: Floyd Rose FIXED SPEEDLOADER

Omg. :blackeye:

Why have they even bothered doing this? I'm with Benjy on this.

Whats the bloody point in having a hardtail which you can't change tunings in... It's one of the reasons I don't really like floating bridge guitars!

Once you get used to it, changing strings on a strat/tele/lp/whatever axe takes a matter of minutes. I don't honestly see a market for people who'd sacrifice both versitality (also including the fact you can't buy your brand of choice strings) and it has to be said looks for the ease of a few minutes shaved off changing strings...

Sorry for the rant. :smack:

Re: Floyd Rose FIXED SPEEDLOADER

i agree in case of the fixed version, but the trem version is just cool and really helpfull

Re: Floyd Rose FIXED SPEEDLOADER

I also do not like the idea of the speed loader for fixed bridges. Completely erases any ability to change tunings. In addition, how tough is it to change strings on any guitar that is not locking nut equipped? Takes a matter of minutes. I'm often times rushed, but I'm never in that big of a hurry.
