For you tele geniuses....

A while back I rewired my telecaster to an esquire. The positions are:

Bridge w/out tone
Bridge w/ tone
Bridge w/ treble cut

However lately I have been getting some static and in some cases a full loss of sound in the treble cut position. The treble cut is obtained through two .050 capacitors and a 3.3 resistor wired together. This isn't the easiest thing to do so most of the connections are not that stable which causes the static and loss of sound.

It is my understanding that Broadcasters, Nocasters, and early Telecaster's
positions were:

Bridge
Neck
Neck w/ treble cut

The treble cut was obtained differently here though. It consisted of one
.1 microfarad capacitor in parallel to ground. Here is what I mean:

So here is my question, one my "esquire" telecaster, instead of using the 2 caps and resistor for the treble cut, could I use just the .1 cap and still get the same sound? And if so, would the .1 cap be wired the same as in the schematic above? (My "esquire" only has the one bridge pickup)

Re: For you tele geniuses....

just check your solder joints first, you may have something loose or something rubbing against a part grounding it somehow.
