Can't do it, can't have black on all the cream in my Gibbo. Just won't look right.

Neither would having a parallel axis pickup in a les paul which is sort of why I'm wondering why it got so popular. Pretty sure they can't be covered either...

Sure will be interesting to see how many people will pony up on this one. If it's any other color than all black it's not even considerable for me.

There are caps for any PU out there!

I'm pretty sure that one of those covers without holes for normal pole pieces would work. I hope this pickup comes in all black, and I think that people should have realized before that it wasn't all that likely that it was going to turn out white or something wierd like that, especially when voting for the PA I'm assuming it has to be black just because of whats available.

Re: Forum member custom shop pickup….VOTE #4

is this going to be a vinatage sounding PATB ? i never have tried A8 magnets but the low dc resistance it seems it might be more vintage sounding? It sounds pretty unique overall....pretty cool. Im glad it didnt end up being a distortion pickup now because everyone wanting the parallel axis design it would have just ended a patb-2 with A8 magnets

Re: Forum member custom shop pickup….VOTE #4

Re: Forum member custom shop pickup….VOTE #4

if it stays with 13/15k DC resistence with an Alnico8 ,it will have allmost the same output with PATB-1 ,will have more highs and clarity ,less low punch ,and will work a tad tighter than PATB1.It will not Vintage ,nor Modern sounding!A great PU with great sustain ,great all-round usable character ,and enough balls to drive any amp!Shweet!

Re: Forum member custom shop pickup….VOTE #4

Re: Forum member custom shop pickup….VOTE #4

im for that....some extra treble would make buy it...seems like the patb-1 has more bottom then top

it has more low mids and high mids than highs! That's why it's my fav LesPaul PU!It gives everything what Lespaul lacks!

I'm hopping on the A8 PATB bandwagon!

Maybe I'll go for an Epi, even though I'm already stuck in a mid-life strat attack.

Why are we discussing colour?? It's the pole peices we are voting after! And honestly...just get another guitar it'll look right in :)

I'll go with any colour, I'd prefer black or zebra myself.

It’s daemon’s fault that I’m voting PA. This sounds like something very cool and very different.

And let’s not get ahead of ourselves on colors, bros. If PA wins out, for all we know PA bobbins are available in any color we want, so long as it’s black. I don’t think we want to pay the extra dollars to have a limited run of PA bobbins in another color, but we’d need some information from Evan about that.

Re: Forum member custom shop pickup….VOTE #4

I love the PATB series, but often wished that they had a bit more in the high end and a little more thud in the low end (vs. the heavy low mids)

I also hope that we can use the standard/trembucker sized coils with the PA pole peices vs. the more square and slightly larger PA series coils (that way I can mod them for my Parkers)

I like the direction that we are going.

hahaha!Great! Now everybody is putting the weight on my shoulders hahaha:firedevil :bigok:
No problem.I am shure that you guys are gonna like it.Since we're talking about a great design ,a new powerfull alnico magnet ,and a moderate DC resistance! And we have MJ!

The color is not important for me.Everything is allright.there are many covers that can be bought and used seperately!Zebra is a great idea too.But i want to see everyone happy as i am.

It would be cool If Evan chimes in tells us what we can do with PA design and what not!!!

So we're supose to pitch a guitar that costs 10x more than this pickup and buy a guitar it would look good in?

Re: Forum member custom shop pickup….VOTE #4

This is just out of curiosity but does an A8 magnet really cost that much more? Is that charge for the magnet itself or is it for the trouble that they'd have to go through to get the magnet? If the magnet itself only costs like $4 (just a guess) and can be found online then perhaps it would be a good idea to just stick a cheaper magnet that SD already has and then let people buy the A8 themselves.

But I'm getting ahead of myself, this should be brought up later when the actual charge is figured out, I'll probably forget to do so, so someone please bring this up again.

Anyways I'm getting kind of excited about this pickup, but I really got to start thinking of what pickups I'm going to sell off (I have 5 bridge humbuckers right now, 3 of them sitting out of a guitar)

Re: Forum member custom shop pickup….VOTE #4

I knew before reading all of Demon's propaganda (:D) that I wanted another PATB. I'd really LOVE a PATB/78, which is kinda along the lines of what is leading in the polls, but even one with an A8 mag would be pretty sweet.

If we're going with a humbucker -- something tells me we are :) -- this is what I'm leaning toward as well, propaganda or no propaganda.

Re: Forum member custom shop pickup….VOTE #4

I suspect we'll get a new poll here soon.

A PATB/78 might be cool based on what I've read of the 78. At least that would give this 13.5k A8 PA idea some tonal direction.

+1, I like the idea of a PATB '78 w/ A8, sounds like a winning combination. I just wish that A8 wasn't as powerful as it is... What do you guys think it would sound like degaussed?
