So What did YOU buy this year?
I got a buncha cool guitars to feed my addiction to six strings and Korina. :scratchch

First off I won a new guitar after resisting buying a guitar nearly two months into the year.
Gave it away. It seemed like the thing to do at the moment and it was. :approve:

From then on it's been a frenzy. Couple weeks later I scored this from a good friend in Texas...

April I got my D.O.A. Goldtop V...

Next up was a Hamer Import Sunburst model in Aztec Gold that came with a mid '80s USA case worth the price of the whole deal.

Couple weeks later this '96 Dean USA V Coupe from the swamps of Louisiana came along and my Guv'ment Incentive check was good and gone...

June brought the completion of a long awaited project. MAN is it complete!!! Ben Chafin did all the rebuild on this and one you will see in a minute.

Remind me to tell you how I paid a dollar figuratively for this sweetie! ;)

2004 Hamer Korina Vector

Joined the Dean USA Vintage club in October with this nice one from 1979...

This really cool '86 Hamer Scepter came my way in July but wasn't finished until late October also by Ben Chafin. I decided to leave it tattered, tip bumped off and authentically releliced. It plays wonderfully.

Got a cool lil EVO FT in Pearl White in early November. The case was worth almost the price of the whole deal so I sold the guitar to a friend for half the cost for his grandson and kept the case.

My guitar buying for the year was done as shortly after that my ride got trashed and now any G.A.S. funding is going to past card purchases and the'94 Accord in the driveway.

Life IS Good. :cool2:

Re: G.A.S. Results Of 2008.....

Hmm, I'd say 2008 was a pretty full year for me as well (not NEARLY as full as yours but my mileage varies :D)
Fresh out of 2008 was the gift I gave to myself for Christmas (it was in January though so it's still in), my new 60watts A-Class all-tube amp, the B-52 AT112
b52at112flashwk2.jpg

Then, came the first real project guitar that I bought (that's without counting my eternally changing Strat :9:), my 2007 Swing EZ-10 (in clickable thumbnails so as to not clutter the thread):
From to .

Then came another upgrade spree for my MiM Strat which now looks about like this (currently waiting for the StraBro90s set to go in and probably a new pickguard as well):

Then, I sold off my October 2007 acquisition, a 2006 Cort G-254 which was finally followed in late 2008 (October actually) by this gem, my pride and joy, a 1994 Grover Jackson era Washburn MG-122:

All in all, I'm pretty happy with the way things turned out as well :)
(Now all I need is to become a good enough player as to justify getting some more :D)

Re: G.A.S. Results Of 2008.....

I got an Epiphone Dot Studio, a VOX AD15VT, a PRS SE Soapbar, a Seymour Duncan Little 59, and an M-Audio Axiom 25

All pretty cheap gear, and fun fun fun!

Re: G.A.S. Results Of 2008.....

Forgot to mention the Pink Hello Kitty Strat I got this month too. It was REALLY cheap. Thought my niece would get it but my sister nixed that idea. Girl is to into athletics and school to play guitar. Aw well it plays really nice anyway. Need to get a shot or two soon.

Re: G.A.S. Results Of 2008.....

I held off my addiction until April when I bought this 57 Les Paul Junior.

575759-2.jpg

Then I had this aluminum guitar built for me in June.

bodyincaseX800.jpg

Then i bought this Bad Cat amp using the 25% live.com deal.

IMG_4618-500x667.jpg

Then I bought this RKS Red Ruby.

fullbody-1.jpg

Couple of months back I bought this Epi Les Paul Tak Matsumoto.

body1-1-1.jpg

For Christmas I bought myself this Firebird.

Firebird_full-1.jpg

Then on an impulse, I just bought this 65 Harmony Bobcat a few days ago. It looks exactly like the 65 Bobcat I had when I was a kid. Even the amount of black edge in the sunburst pattern is the same.

Re: G.A.S. Results Of 2008.....

I bought myself a PRS CE 24 maple top, that I am very proud of.

I also got myself a Mesa 5:25 amp, which i also love.

Re: G.A.S. Results Of 2008.....

I bought back my old 1969 Fender Strat that I originally purchased back in about 1979 and sold to a mate in Sydney about 1984. He had owned it ever since and offered to sell it back to me early in 2008.

It had a Warmoth neck fitted back in the '80s (rather heavy and not very Strat-like), and some kind of all-brass Strat bridge with rollers in the saddles when i got it back, So......

I bought a new Warmoth neck, (big headstock, 12" radius, C profile), a Callaham bridge, a set of Bareknuckle Irish Tour pickups and the new Gotoh vintage tuners with adjustable post heights and string-locking (HAPM i think they're called), period-correct 'F' logo decals for the headstock and a new 'F' neck plate with the correct serial number stamped into it as the original one seemed to have become badly corroded at some point when my mate had stored it someplace. It's original case, ironically, has been with me all these years as i kept that when i sold the guitar.
I am in the process of putting it all together....all the woodwork will be Tru-Oil, the body is below 4 pounds, so it should be a great guitar, still bearing the marks of the hard life it used to have with me back in the day. But in it's new incarnation, it'll be loved like a dear old friend.

Other than that, most of my major purchases have been done before 2008, so it's been mostly just spending on quality capacitors, germanium transistors, tubes and amp parts for current and future projects.

BTW, you guys have acquired some great items this year, congratulations and enjoy those babies !!

Re: G.A.S. Results Of 2008.....

I've had a couple of guitars come and go this year - the Hamer and LP pictured below, and a strat I can't find a picture of:

As for amps, I bought a Flextone III, but am currently waiting on what will be its replacement - a Fender Hot Rod Deville 410 that I'm going to have modded.

Pedal-wise, I bought and sold a Vox Satchurator, and bought (and kept!) an Xotic BB Preamp.

So, not too much, but I've got to play with some cool pieces but ultimately didn't bond with any of the guitars that came through. I always wind up prefering my parts strat over everything else.

Re: G.A.S. Results Of 2008.....

I ended up getting an 86 Kramer American Pacer and An import Jackson V. Got some new Grover tuners on the way for Dixie and I picked up a Dimarzio 36th and a Duncan Seth. Also got a Marshall Mini Stack for practicing.

Here's a pic with the Kramer and Jack Ruby.

I remember the first time I posted a pic of those RKS, everyone thought it was cool but a crazy contraption. How do you like it?

Nice Harmony, how's the sound? I love those 6'ś funky planks.

Re: G.A.S. Results Of 2008.....

I haven't received the Harmony yet, but I know the necks are huge.

I really like the RKS. The build quality was phenominal and it was a unique, yet functional design. Very comfortable to play. Light, but not neck heavy. It's a shame they didn't make it because they had some really good ideas. Because of the odd Tenite body and aluminum ribs, it is brighter sounding than if it was a mahogany bodied guitar, but sounds similar to humbuckers in an alder bodied guitar. I say if it sounds too bright, that's what tone knobs are for. (once you get use to where the tone knob (wheel) is!)

25.5" scale neck, but seems much easier to play across the fretboard than a Fender. Since they went out of business, you can find those high dollar models like the Red Ruby or full wood bodied models ALOT cheaper than they use to be. The Wave series was a much cheaper guitar with interchangeable wild colored bodies.

Re: G.A.S. Results Of 2008.....

I scored a couple free pedals via my work (my boss has GAS problems, and gives me his old stuff occasionally, how I got the crybaby, BOSS Overdrive, and DOD Tremalo pedal). Other than that I have successfully resisted the GAS in the last year, probably just because I have been broke most of the time. Got a bone nut, saddle, and bridge pins for my acoustic, a bunch of parts for my wah, some tubes and a lot of strings, but thats about it. This summer though... got a good job lined up and its about time for a resophonic guitar and a travel-sized acoustic, or maybe another amp.

Interesting info! They tank already?? Sad... Seems like us guitarists are always whining for something new, but we dont embrace radical new ideas..
Ive wondered how these were and this is the most beautiful pic Ive seen of one..

Do tell about the aluminum one!!

Nice. And I expect a full review on the Harmony and pics :D:D

Forgot about my gear:

A Pocket Pod and a Danelectro Fab Echo, as Birthday and Christmas Gifts for myself No use in pics.

Also bought a cheap Nylon Classical made out of Mahogany for finishing my internship. Bassy, boxy and sweet all in a good way. Pics some other time when the weather is good as I've been meaning to do a family pic of my scarse gear.
