G&L good value?

Re: G&L good value?

I AM being serious... had a mint '79 (wish I still had it just for the value), an early Beck in white and a USA '03 deluxe.... just couldn't gel with them at all as hard as I tried. As soon as I got the first G&L i KNEW!!:naughty:

Sounds familiar - I want to like Strats, I love Mike McCready's 'Yellow Leadbetter' tone, and obviously Hendrix, but I just can't make them work for me. Good job Legacys are as hard to find as ASATs over here, or I might have to try one.

Ha ha ha... you ain't looking hard enough sunshine!

Re: G&L good value?

Hi all,
At the moment I've got two ASATs, an ASAT III and a Bluesboy Deluxe semi hollow.
I had an extremely bad attack of GAS in the last week and now I've got three more G&Ls incoming.
A Legacy HB, a Legacy 2HB, and an S500. All are lefties and all were absolute bargains. I'm in Ireland and G&Ls are as rare as hens teeth, lefty G&Ls do not exist here.

And yes I have it bad, GAS that is.

I'm going to get P Rails in the Legacy 2HB, that's why I joined up, hopefuly to get some wiring diagrams.

I have quite a few Fenders and am a long time Strat player. I also have a '97 stock American Standard Tele and the G&L ASATs just blow it away.
Before I got my first G&L I was like a lot of guys " the headstock ... the headstock ! " but believe me when you actually play one it isn't even an issue.

Regards ..

Re: G&L good value?

Thanks KG, maybe you might be able to help me out ?

I want to get the pickguard replaced on the 2HB, but I'm not to sure what colour to go for.

I was thinking tortoise shell, black pearl, or even red pearl :scratchch

What do you think ?

Anyone else feel free to chime in.

Thanks

Re: G&L good value?

Now I know who's been hoarding all the lefty G&L's ... you're on my list now SouthPawGuy ... dun dun dunnnnn!

Re: G&L good value?

Thanks guys.

You've got quite the collection yourself Sprinter.
I really need a lefty ASAT Deluxe though to take the edge of my GAS !

Re: G&L good value?

Where are you ordering the G&L lefties from, SouthpawGuy? I'm living in the Netherlands, so, any place that ships to Europe I guess... Also, how do the ASATs compare to MIM/MIA Fenders (playability and cost)?

Right now I've got just a MIM Tele (and an acoustic, naturally), and not any money to expand the collection, but G&L is on my short-list of gorgeous guitars I would love to own some day.

Red pearl is the way to go, unless you choose this (which is cool, but admittedly over-the-top):

I have a MIM Tele and an ASAT, and there's just no comparison. I like my MIM Tele a lot, but the responsiveness, playability and overall quality of the ASAT are far superior. No customizations required…at all.

Re: G&L good value?

Your guys appraisal of the G&L guitars made me purchase this:

It's from Canada though, and the shipping prices from there was insane.. So it's being shipped by a ship, and it'll take a few weeks before it's here... :(

Re: G&L good value?

That is simply awesome, Tor. Simply awesome. You'll have to let us know how it feels (although I can make a pretty accurate guess).

Nice snag, man!

Re: G&L good value?

Thanks a lot! Will do! Considering the rave reviews of the G&L guitars here, and the very fact that I do have a G&L Tribute bass I am very content with, I have high hopes for it. :)

Re: G&L good value?

That's a beauty, right there. If ever I were to get an S-bodied guitar... Yummy. Congrats, Tor!

As it is, I wouldn't mind a lefty ASAT III with the S-500 wiring scheme.

Re: G&L good value?

Hey Tor, that's a nice looking lump a wood! Great to see you finally got one... post some more pics when you get it.
