***GASP*** Is this true....

Re: ***GASP*** Is this true....

I'd forget the guitar and buy THIS from the same seller. That looks great!

That's pretty cool, but I'd only do that if I were in a KISS tribute band. The idea of owning a guitar that Ace actually owned and played once before -- whether he recorded with it or not -- is of real interest to me. Ace is the guy who made me want to play guitar in the first place, so that guitar would hold significant sentimental value for me.

How do you know he played it? He may have owned it, that doesn't mean he played it. These guys own hundreds of guitars after all, and apparently he never made it a habit to play this particular guitar, suggesting he stuck with his other favourite guitars.
Angus Young made me want to play guitar, but I wouldn't spend much on a guitar just because he might have been in the same room as it for ten minutes. I'd want to know he recorded "Bad Boy Boogie" with it or something like that THEN I'd be more tempted.
This is a very subjective thread - it all comes down to how much Aceman worships Ace Frehley. And even then, there's much more to take into account.
I just don't think it's worth paying more for a guitar you don't even know Ace liked or played.

I appreciate your point, and I don't think it's any less valid than mine. Like you said, it's all subjective. One man's trash is another man's treasure. I think it's a very cool guitar on its own, and the fact that it's signed by Ace adds to the cache. Sounds like it's more important to you than it is to me whether or not he actually recorded with this particular axe, and that's cool.

I have no argument with you, bro.

Sorry I didn't want to come across as aggressive or whatever, I hope I didn't. Of course your point is as valid as mine - ultimately the only valid opinion will be Acemans.
I think it's an awesome guitar on it's own, since I love Black Beauty's (or is that Beauties?). I just wouldn't pay MORE for it because of the Ace thing. :flowers1:

Re: ***GASP*** Is this true....

Happy to help! Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the Black Beauty in general, thats why I got an Epi version, but why pay extra just because Ace Frehley had one sat in a cupboard for a few weeks?
Get a MUCH cheaper Epi LP, some custom pup rings and DiMarzios. And some platforms and make up. ;)

Yeah, that's the guitar a normal person would get, but we're talking about the Aceman here.

I don't know...maybe I'm getting old , but I'm thinking that bands should emphasize their musical skills and not dress up for Halloween in concert. And has Ace been partying with Keith Richards, both look like they're 150 years old (sorry, Aceman, don't take that personal about your hero. I know mine, Peter Green, hasn't aged "gracefully" either).

But then, back in the day I got a kick out of the Sensational Alex Harvey Band.

Re: ***GASP*** Is this true....

No grief on the Ace looks 150. The "My hero Ace" is the guy coming down on the platform inside the ALIVE II cover, with the Cherry Sunburst LP Custom. And Dio and Kieth have it about right. I'm kinda torn.

On the one hand, It does by all accounts seem to be a legit Ace Frehley owned guitar. It appears based upon further info to perhaps have been played on a Frehley's Comet tour. And in any event it is a nice 78 LP Custom no matter what! How much closer can you legitamately expect to get?

Yet, it is clearly not a KISS guitar. Or if it is it's not one of the signiture ones (and I know most of those!). And it is not the "Ace" guitar I dream of having. Nor was the Ace Frehley Gibson model with all the goofy crap on it. I've already thought - hmmmm cream hardware?

We'll see... It's a tough call for me. Hard to say what will happen at this point.

All I can say is, I'm glad I'm not in your shoes this week. You probably haven't gotten much sleep.

Re: ***GASP*** Is this true....

If I could get a Les Paul for that little money in New Zealand I'd own one now.

Re: ***GASP*** Is this true....

If you don't buy this, I will petition the mods to change your gloss to:
