Gc used

If one were to buy a guitar from the online deal, and is not completely satisfied as far as condition, is it exchangeable? Can you just go to the local gc and get your loot back? Didn't feel like calling gc

Re: Gc used

Yep, they'll take it back for 30 days or something like that.

Used stuff from GC is usually setup for ****, be prepared to put some time in.

Re: Gc used

you will loose shipping tho

a friend of mine made returns a habit
when he was trying to find the perfect deal on a new 5 string

after the third one they seemed a bit put off about his exchanges
but were polite none the less

he lost shipping each time

but once he got a Ibanez SR300DX 4 string with replacement SD pickups
and a hard case for $99

used is obscenely nice

like Izzo says tho
the sweeter the deal the more effort you'll have to make to get a player

the $99 bass had upgraded pickups but were poorly wired with non-functioning tone controls
little bit of solder and a set up and it played well

Re: Gc used

I bought gc online. Good thing is if there is a problem it can be returned to any gc. I bought a pedal from California, it didn't work so I returned it to one here in SC and they refunded no hassle. Pretty smooth transaction all together.

Re: Gc used

they can refund the shipping, you just have to ask/tell them to before the transaction is complete. Once it has been returned without refunding the shipping there is nothing they can do.

Re: Gc used

FWIW, the big problem with used GC items is the non-descriptions and the single photo. Over at talkbass they have a whole thread tracking the lemons in the GC collection and it gets good action.

Re: Gc used

I buy lots of stuff used in GC, but I always check it out in the store. I have noticed that they tend to slap "standard" prices onto everything, almost without regard to the condition of the item. So you may have one guitar with more scratches and dings than another, but they'll list them the same online. There are some good deals to be had, if you keep your eyes open and visit frequently.

Re: Gc used

Yaknow, in computer science "GC" stands for "garbage collection". Just sayin'.

Re: Gc used

I've bought multiple guitars on Guitar Center used and have a couple in my wish list right now. Planning on purchasing at least one of them this week. I like the 30 day return option, or the option of just getting a good deal and selling it online myself later if I fall out of love with it.

Yes, 30 days. No questions/reasons needed

Oooh yes... Like, buying an ESP mirage, how many of you would expect a single emg85x and kahler FULCRUM trem (nonlocking, but w/ schaller lockers)... Or that "w/ case" means Fender?

It was cool though.

One thing: NEVER expect trem arms or back trem cavity covers. Only about a 30% of getting either

Online has a rotating ~ $30% discount (rounded up to the closest number ending in $9.99) thrown on random items it seems... Got my $420 esp eclipse that way, while the photo had a price tag that said smthn like 650 or so

Re: Gc used

You only get back the shipping if you're returning it because there's something wrong with the piece. If you're returning something just because you don't like it than you will loose the shipping. Also, used stuff doesn't tend to be discounted unless it's damaged or sits for a really long time. Coupons won't work. I'm a manager at the Brooklyn store, pm me if you have any questions. I could even set up the deal for you over the phone if you'd like.

Guitar->pedals->amp

Online only discounts are unrelated to instore discounts, afaik. Seem to recall visiting a store after looking up its inventory online and seeing higher prices in person, same day.

As to the something wrong with it, a lot of stores are sloppy about tuning/setups, which on a floyded axe makes it look FUBAR'd to the average in person shopper...and, in all my experience with used stuff at GC, only *ONCE* have I seen fresh 9v batteries. Measurements ranged from <3v to 7v. Makes active stuff sound way different and often "wrong".

I'm averaging 50% on tremolo guitars that I've ordered from GC used, so I feel pretty good about that.

Re: Gc used

When I call to order
I ask the salesman if it has the bar
if not see if he will grab one out of the box in back and throw it in
