Re: Get Yer Custom Shop Crazy 8!!!

I know I'm not alone in the opinion that we don't need any more freaking polls. We've had our fair share of polls regarding the makeup of this pickup, let's call it done and move on.

It's no longer time for us to be creative. We've done our duty, now let's hand the masters our ideas and let them do what they do best.

Amen;
Has anyone thought about puttung one of these in a ESP DV-8 guitar,

Crazy8 DV-8..... huh huh :bad:

Re: Get Yer Custom Shop Crazy 8!!!

YEE HAW!

I just got my bill for the Crazy 8.

It'll be more exciting when the pup arrives and is installed!

Re: Get Yer Custom Shop Crazy 8!!!

i just got the pdf email today, when i placed my order the first day it was up so for the other guys waiting i'd hold tight as i'm sure they're comming.

Re: Get Yer Custom Shop Crazy 8!!!

So....this sounds like it could be interesting.

How would the Crazy 8 be potentially if matched to a 59' neck?

I know...speculation....but would it be wholly out of place? I like the idea of a darker Demon but blowing the 59' out of the water output-wise isn't my idea of a good time!

Re: Get Yer Custom Shop Crazy 8!!!

Not to be difficult, but I'm not sure I can order a pickup without some description of the sound. Surely SD or MJ can give us some info about it. If it's wound with 42g wire, it's going to be different than 43g wire.

To cause even more controversy, is it called the Crazy 8 because they think it is a crazy, pointless, combination??? Or they feel crazy for building it???

Or, has it actually been built yet??? :firedevil
I don't know how much they would like me to divulge here, but if you haven't read all the posts about it you can at least know that you can't fit "around 13.5k" of 42awg on these bobbins. Here's the way I see it: The wind should be something of a more open, slightly lower output Custom type wind.:cool: Next, the poles provide a softer, more open magnetic field around the string for a smoother tone. :drive: Then, the Alnico 8 comes in and kicks this thing right in the parallel axis!:butkick: The A8 saddled up to those Parallel Axis poles should be a fantastic marriage. It's a Crazy 8 as in crazy awesome, :eyecrazy: not "this pickup is crazy". I have a guitar in mind already for this pickup, along with PATB singles. Thanks you guys! This is truly an opportunity to have something very few people will have.

Re: Get Yer Custom Shop Crazy 8!!!

It feels horrible having contributed to the specs of the pup but not having enough money to get one until at least the summer. :(

Ahwell, eventually I will get one, and I'll either buy a used Strat or build one myself and drop the Crazy 8 in!!

Re: Get Yer Custom Shop Crazy 8!!!

I still think that this Crazy 8 should be 43 gauge with resistance 12 k max ;
with alnico 8 , 13.5k is too much !

Re: Get Yer Custom Shop Crazy 8!!!

Just got my order in, tomorrow's the deadline. Can't wait to hear this pup. Now I just gotta decide if I will swap the Crazy 8 for the PATB-3 in my DK2. Or do I really need another guitar... god**** GAS. :eek13:
