Gibson.. Henry ousted

Re: Gibson.. Henry ousted

Thank god right?

If they grabbed a 1995 catalog and just reissued everything in it they’d win us all back you know

If the prices were fair

This is a potentially sticky situation if they cancelled their stakes/stocks. Unless they reorganize how the company is structured altogether, this could land them in some legal trouble. If the company maintains it's legal status, the ex CEO may retaliate.

Unless of course, they already paid them off and they are happy with the money.

Re: Gibson.. Henry ousted

Gibson hasn't exactly been in tune with players for decades now, so it was only a matter of time for it to come to this. I remember they substantially raised prices during the darkest days of the recession; the 2014 line apparently was designed without any market research about what players wanted. Prices keep getting higher, while quality control has been hit or miss for a long time. Considering many of their guitar models are high end, I'm disappointed to see a lack of effort and interest in their pickups, and the outrageous aftermarket prices for them. At times they seemed to me to come across as: "We know a lot more about guitars than you do. We don't care what you want. This is what you're going to get. And you're going to like it."Gibson seemed to be oblivious that they had competitors that were very willing to give players the quality & designs they wanted at reasonable prices. Bigger corporations than Gibson have been humbled when they lost their way with consumers. It's a shame creditors have had to take over and clean up the aftermath. Hopefully they will make a sincere attempt to win back the respect and patronage of players.

Re: Gibson.. Henry ousted

Just want to go out there in a limb randomly and state my 2016 Gibsons are bad ass

But not 2017 or 2018.

DEFINITELY NOT 2015 lololololol

Re: Gibson.. Henry ousted

My 2011 Reissue is killer. Waiting to see what changes are made for 2020 at this point, since 2019 is already a done deal. Unless changes are made mid year.....

Re: Gibson.. Henry ousted

Been watching a lot of YouTubes on the new 2019 Les Paul Standard. Gorgeous guitar, but damn...so many pickup options and knobs to click and switches to manipulate.

Push/pull pots on all four and a special switch plate in the body to activate single coil mode, blah, blah, blah. AND close to $3500!! I'd have to sell one of my kids to afford that. Yes, there are Studios and the Tribute version, but an almost $2K difference in price? Wow.

Re: Gibson.. Henry ousted

If only I had kids to sell... (I would probably buy a custom Suhr)

Actually, I've been feeling a tug at the LP force, the 2018 Satins at Wildwood look really nice, need to stop by and try one some day.

Oh wait, just checked my wallet, maybe I don't.

The D.I.P. switches in the back cavity seems like a good idea if you want to set up your LP for straight-forward sound but it gets a little confusing with high-pass filters and all. I guess to each their own.

Re: Gibson.. Henry ousted

KKR is not involved because they give a **** about guitars or Gibson. They will squeeze Gibson until every dollar is returned and then some.

Re: Gibson.. Henry ousted

You mean they aren't concerned that I have a pleasant personal Les Paul Experience?
