I'm not an expert, but to me it looks like:

1. It's a copy. The horn is too pointed and the knobs don't align. If it was really a 70's custom it would probably have had a sandwich body.
2. Looks like a headstock crack was repaired and repainted.

Horn is too pointed

Carve on the back of the headstock is wrong

Headstock "inlay" is wrong

It's a fake...but since it doesn't say Gibson, it's not really a fake, just an implicit fake.

That fretwear is indicative of very soft / low qual fretwire - regular quality frets do not wear like that.

Looks to me like one of the cheaper 70s Hondo ll models. They came close to the look, but cut every single corner along the way. Junk.

why is it fake, though?

- Wrong fretboard wood.
- Split Diamond inlay is in the wrong location.
- Neck / Headstock join looks off

On the whole the horn looks too pointy comments, around 76-79 the lower horn was more pointed than usual.

It's low quality, but to give them credit they did get a number of things right.

But I would not touch it with a 10 foot pole.
