As you can see, the headstock and body use a multi laminate binding, and the fingerboard has only the single sheet of binding.

now thats one SEXY guitar!

Re: gibson les paul custom???

And I have it's skinnier and lighter older brother.

God I love Wine Red Customs.

Re: gibson les paul custom???

if it was a gibson they would not have scratched off the logo for a start! Secondly, only cheaper gibsons like melody makers or lp juiniors had decals for the logo instead of inlays so theres no way is a les paul custom, standard or even a classic. Its not a gibson. Save yourself a lot of time and money wasting.
Dont spend 200 bucks just because youd like to believe you got a bargain. All youd get is 200 bucks poorer.

i just looked at the pics. thats no gibson. no way. no how. its juts an old battered les paul copy.

Re: gibson les paul custom???

Whatever it is, it would take a lot of money to make it playable. At least a refret, on top of electronics, tuners, and possibly some attention on that headstock break. (I was about to call John L, but he probably wouldn't care about a headstock break on a fake.)

Re: gibson les paul custom???

I don't know about most people's opinions, but even the really good copies of a Gibson sound nothing like a real one. So what you'll be paying for is a poor copy of a LP which has got so many things wrong with it that it needs MAJOR surgery.

So - you spend $500-600 by the time you've done all the work for a poor Les Paul copy which is very second hand.

OR

Spend about the same on an agile, Epiphone etc and have a new guitar which will probably have equal/better woods.

Your money of course, and GAS is hard to overcome. Its usually better to stick to the guitars which are a known quantity.

Re: gibson les paul custom???

why is it fake, though? everything checks out except that there is no gibson logo, but as you can see, the diamond inlays are also faded or have fallen off for one reason or another. i noticed that the headstock is repainted. maybe the remnants are lost under the paint. the truss rod cover does not say les paul on it nor does it seem like it ever had that written on it either. were they always written that way? les paul in script and custom in block right under it. and no serial number, were they always engraved? if not, then couldn't it have faded like the gibson logo? i'm asking this not only because i hate to know that it's a fake (yes it's true i admit it), but also to learn how to identify these things. it does look like it's been played long and hard. and also, the wear on the frets looks real as it's mostly worn in lower on the neck rather on the higher part used mostly for soloing.

Re: gibson les paul custom???

This thing sounded so shady from the initial description I was just gonna call "no" out of the gate.

Having seen the pics - HELL NO!

Don't even think about getting this guitar...unless it feels good and sounds good. Which I have 20 bones right now that says it doesn't.

It's a fairly thorough copy...but still, just no. Looks like something made in an Epiphone factory.

Sidebar: Some of you people are complete retards. I'm not gonna even bother calling you all out. read your own posts, and ask yourself "Do I REALLY know that? Is this just my dumb@$$ opinion?" Next time you spout LP bs I'm gonna come down on you like a ton of bricks.
