I can't believe how sloppy looking some of their guitars finishs can be. The cherry finish on the outer edge of this guitar is so sloppy looking to me. Perhaps this is the all new Gibson Les Paul Standard in Sloppyburst Finish.... :earl:

I dunno, GG. That guitar looks gorgeous to me, even though the grain is far from symmetrical.

Besides the grain, the upper bass portion has some more burst than the treble and the lower treble portion has some more than the one on the bass side.

I think you are seeing the illusion of more or less "burst" because of the darkness rendered by the figure of the wood (or not).

I'm sure it doesn't look that bad in person. I have the most beautiful chevron flame cherry burst, and in some pictures it looks very different.

I´m not a fan of the asymetrical burst myself, but I´ve seen worse.

The top on the other hand is a bookmatched 2 piece, it just doesn´t look that way in teh first pic, the grain creates the illusion of a third piece on the bass side between teh butt and the tailpiece
