Gibson Quick Connect: is it worth anything?

Just gutted out my Les Paul Tribute to install some CTS pots, a new jack and new switch. I have all the electronics, including the stock 490r 498t set that came with it. Are the electronics worth anything or should I just snip the tips and sell the pickups as fourway pickups? Thanks in advanced.

For the sake of simplicity you could sell it all as a set.

BUT!

Factory pickups and pots de-solderered from a stock guitar would not be worth much individually.

Although, a guitarist trying to upgrade a cheaper import guitar *(a "G" brand knockoff) might snap it up.

I think I'd try to sell the pickups with the connectors and just offer the option to snip the connectors and expose the wires if the buyer wants that. You lose potential buyers who own LP's with the PCB if you snip the connectors. My 2 cents anyway.

Keep all the parts stock. If the buyer wants to snip, they can snip. Make them do the "work" themselves. If it kills them, it's natural selection.

However, I must ask what problems the original setup had that led you to swap them out. I'm sure the potential buyers would want to know if the rig was somehow defective.

Re: Gibson Quick Connect: is it worth anything?

True. If someone would like them with the connectors, I'd be pushing away potential customers.

Re: Gibson Quick Connect: is it worth anything?

The pickups and electronics were fine! I switched the pickups because I wasn't too fond of the neck pickup. I found out it was a quick connect and said f it. I switched everything out. I loved the bridge pickup.

Re: Gibson Quick Connect: is it worth anything?

For someone that can not solder those electronics are very attractive.

Re: Gibson Quick Connect: is it worth anything?

That pricing is absurd! I figured it's sell for $60 with all the other electronics like the switch and jack.

Assuming your switch is like mine, it's a Switchcraft. Almost like the Switchcraft's used by Gretsch which have the terminals arranged like the cheap switches (ground tab on it's own) but a good, $15 switch nonetheless. I re-used the switch but I still have the switch wiring harness, board, and jack with wiring harness attached. Maybe I can get 50 bucks.

I was going to that, but I bought an allparts switch for $15 and figured I'd save myself the trouble of looking for another switch if I decide to sell everything. Well, if anyone is interested, I have the whole set up. Used only for like 2 months. I also have the pickups.

Re: Gibson Quick Connect: is it worth anything?

Assuming that worth means $ and not quality, then, yes, the electronics might be worth something.

The Gibson Quick Connect system is actually pretty cool. It's on par with the EMG 3-prong system in that one just has to clip in connectors, as opposed to, say, the Duncan Liberator, which is kind of fiddly with having to screw in each lead with a tiny screwdriver. The only limitation of the Gibson system is that pretty much only Gibson pickups have the connectors. Some boutique pickup makers will add the connectors, but going to those lengths sort of defeats the purpose of a quick plug-and-play system.

Keeping the Quick Connect connectors on Gibson pickups should not decrease resale value b/c a buyer can simply snip off the connector with scissors if desired, yielding the traditional exposed leads.

Your competition, seller-wise, for the electronics will be Stratosphere, and you can easily undercut those prices and still get some $. I say go for it and see what you can get.

I bet you can track down the plugs for the pups and turn any pickups into quick connect
