What is the consensus on the late 70s and early 80s pickups like the Super Humbucking?

I had the super humbucker "Velvet Bricks" designed by Lawrence in my Sonex. They have a ton of grind, I used them in my thrash band. I would love to revisit a set and maybe put them in one of my Pauls or my SG.
