Gig worthy Solid State Amps

Re: Gig worthy Solid State Amps

Fender RocPro1000 head and a 2x12 cabinet would get you through just about anything. However it does have a single-tube preamp. Never needed a pedal with it but then the gigs I played were for people who just wanted sound and didn't care if it sounded Brown enough. They drank and danced to it (line dancing to Man In The Box is something you gotta see) so it's good enough for work.

Another option if you're intent on a combo is the Peavey Transtube Bandit 112.

Re: Gig worthy Solid State Amps

I'd also add the new Roland Blues Cube to that list. I got to play one at a shop recently and really liked it.

This new line of Blues Cubes are great amps, endorsed by Eric Johnson. 60 watts, 30 lbs, 1x12", & tube tone. Check out the Roland site and video with Eric. They're $699 retail and Casio Music has a 20% off sale going on today (9/18) til midnight. I just ordered one: $550, and free shipping. I'm pumped.

Re: Gig worthy Solid State Amps

A friend has an old Randall 100ES with a 4x12 that would gig out anywhere.
