Godin Freeway Classic

I'm planning to buy this guitar in maybe 2 weeks or so. I have tried Godin LG and i loved it but the body wasn't to my liking. I like the strat body and the freeway classic is something i prefer more also with a maple fretboard. Any negative things i should know about before i purchase this guitar?

Are there better alternatives also?

I have an LG and will admit the body takes a bit of getting used to in the visual dept. As far as cons go, I only find the guitar to needs warmer pups. I would go with A2P APS2 Custom Custom. I thought the one I played was great besides that and just need a good setup.

I think these are very good guitars, especially at the prices I've seen. I thought the LG models had a bit better fit and finish, and I prefer hardtails. Both the Freeway Classic and a similar model (can't recall the name) that I tried had the worst alignment of the strings over the pickup polepieces that I've seen on an otherwise nice guitar. It sounded nice, so I guess it doesn't matter, but it sure looked odd.

The Godins also come with the nicest gig bag I've ever seen, which is a big plus. No need for a hardcase with that bag, unlike the Fenders.

nice so is the freeway classic a good investment? im planning to rip out the pups and put in some duncans anyway. i also heard something about the action being kinda wierd when you first get it. I'm going to be bringing it to my tech to set it up for me.

An excellent idea on both accounts! I thought the action was odd myself, it was set up different than my LG. As far as pups go I think you are definitely on the right track. I'd love one of those babies, but with a floyd.

I wouldn't call it an investment, but I think you'll get your money's worth. I'd live with the stock pickups awhile -- for all we know they are SD designed. They sounded pretty nice to me, so I wouldn't feel in a rush to change 'em, at least not for a year or so. :22:
