Good Compressor Pedal.

Re: Good Compressor Pedal.

Whats the best one that you guys would recommend. I was thinking of the Boss Compressor sustainer.

Ermmmm . . . wrong forum :smack: :blackeye:

Should go in the Amp Forum.

Stay away from the CS-3 IT COLOUR YOUR TONE IN A VERY BAD WAY !

MXR Super Comp is much better than the Boss unit !

Re: Good Compressor Pedal.

Don't skimp on your compressor. Buy the best. There are a lot of great ones out there, so you don't have to settle for Boss or MXR.

Remember, a compressor is usually placed early, if not first, in your signal chain. It is going to have an effect on everything that follows it. If you start with crap, it ain't gonna get better before it hits the amp!

Look into the Keeley, the Analog Man, HBE and JangleBox versions.

Re: Good Compressor Pedal.

you might want to try the Maxon compression pedal (Sorry, can't remember the name)

I think that it is new one in their line of pedals.

Good Luck

Re: Good Compressor Pedal.

I've also used the Teese FK-1, and its pretty good, although it definitely got along better with single coils vs. buckers.

Re: Good Compressor Pedal.

I love my Homebrew Electronics CPR! Great for clean guitar!! It's a vintage style compressor, verrrrrrrrry smooth. I can record with/without clips if you are interested.

Re: Good Compressor Pedal.

I have the Guyatone ST-1 Compressor. It has a switch to allow you to have both the compressed and non-compressed sound together so that you have a more natural sound. I think it does an excellent job, and it's the best compressor I have ever owned. Add to that, it's cheaper than most of the others on the market - somewhere around $80.

Re: Good Compressor Pedal.

I have the DigiTech Main Squeeze, and it can get unreasonable, but you can dial in good sounds on it. I've always liked the Boss also.

Re: Good Compressor Pedal.

What is wrong with BOSS effects?
Nothing. But the CS-3 Compressor needs work so it doesn't alter your tone very much. Out of all Boss effects, it's one of my least favorites.

Keeley - Best compressor out there!

I'll add a 4th nod to the Keeley. It's a clone of the Ross and MXR compressor but heavily improved upon.

Re: Good Compressor Pedal.

AnaLogMan bi-comprosser. Early Ross clone PLUS Dan Armstrong Orange Squeezer clone. Like many folks I bought it for the Ross sound but use the "Juicer" side more often.
