Good rock organ tone

i was interested in getting a rock organ player for my band and was wondering if anyone here knew about any keyboards that get a good fender rhodes'ish tone.

Re: Good rock organ tone

I have a Yamaha S80 that has killer rhodes voices. The acoustic piano, organ and clavenet voices are also very good. I got a killer deal on it new but it was still over $1200. If you didn't want to spend the money on a full size, weighted key board there are quite a few good options from Korg, Yamaha and a couple other makers but you really need to play them a little to find the board that you'll like best. Some have better acoustic voices, some have better strings and some have better synths so you have to look a little to find a good fit.

I'm just as particular about how a board feels as how it sounds. If the controls and keys feel "cheap" I usually look elsewhere. I want it to feel like Im playing an instrument, not banging on a toy.

Well a Rhodes isn't really an organ- what you may be after is a good B3-type, like the Roland VK series.

Also lots of keyboardists today are gigging with a good laptop and some softsynths, which actually sound better than many hardware equivalents.
