Re: Goofy hybrids . . .
the Seth/Lover is clearly already a hybrid, but i am trying to work out which is the 'Seth' coil and which is the 'Lover' coil before i can work on some new hybrid configurations.
I can't help but think that these ideas have the name of one guitar legend stamped all over them.........NIGEL TUFNEL of the mighty SPINAL TAP.
i envisage 'THE TUFNEL COLLECTION' , comprising all of these incredible ideas, and probably manufactured using bobbins of the weirdest fluorescent colours, and available in sets of five, six and seven.
I think possibly some of the neck pickups might have blades rather than individual pole pieces, spaced in such a way that the last inch or two of the neck be removed and replaced by a pickup, with the blades acting as frets. This would allow more room for more pickups. After all, no-one would expect Nigel to try to play with only four pickups, surely? Also, with more pickups, it will be possible to have a greater variety of coils in there, that could be wired to give almost any hybrid combination imagineable....providing the names of the combinations are good of course.
