Got a Peavey Windsor as a backup amp... any users?

After my rhythm guitarist's Vox died 18 hours before a long gig and my Legacy's pre tubes died ON the gig, my band managers bought us a Peavey Windsor for a backup amp. :thanks: My rhythm guitarist picked it out.

I only tried one out before briefly, and I remember it being kind of a cool Brit-flavored amp. Anyone else got more experience with it?

I'll give it a full test-drive and review on the weekend. brb :D

I think Wattage is using one....he has one of the new Peaveys and is very pleased with it.

OT, I love that pic of KT Tunstall in your avatar Simon. It's from her new album isn't it?

Cool. How much does she look like PJ Harvey in that picture though? Thats even the same guitar, only all disco ball-y.

i dig the Windsor somethin fierce. Been craving a British-style tube amp lately and this might be the one. Dunno for sure tho, kinda need to shop around and get my recording gear up to snuff first...

Yup I got one and I love it.

It isn't the end all or be all but it is a great solid Rock amp. It leans a lot towards an 800 with a few tweaks. I've run it through about 6 different cabs so far and been very pleased with every combination. Lots of room in the EQ section to play with. It has been solid as any Peavey I have ever owned or used. I wasn't thrlled with the stock JJ 12AX7's so I popped in some EH's and the amp became less compressed and not so dark, perfect for me anyway. If you run a lot of bottom end you are going to love this amp.

heck of a nice manager you got btw!

I'm very interested in getting a Windsor combo. How's it sound for med-to-high gain brit stuff?

Re: Got a Peavey Windsor as a backup amp... any users?

haven't played a combo yet and they are a bit different amp but the head does great med gain. Hi-gain not entirely, a real hot pickup pushes it a bit more but it is more traditional than modern.
