Dave's Phase tone, IMO, is pretty low key. It is definitely there, but not obnoxious/effecty or anything. I think it totally works for what he does with it.

Now - back to our regularly scheduled chorussing!

My total Chorus count:

Washburn Accelerator Series Stereo Chorus - My original analog chorus. Love it
Boss CH-1 - Generic all around Chorus for the people.
Ibanez Tone Lok CF7 Chorus/Flanger - Because Wacked mode, and Chorus or Flanger
Mooer Ensemble King - Great CE-2 copy with level
Visual Sound H2O Chorus/Delay - Normal is excellent, Lush is exactly that, has a delay knob!
Digitech CF7 - Every Chorus tone you ever wanted, with more parameters.

I mostly use the H2O w/ my Tubemeister, and the Ensemble King with my mini board. The other s are there when/if I need them. But those two get a lot of play.

I dig the Small Stone over the Phase 45 or 90- it sounds 'chewier' to me, as if it becomes part of the sound, and not slathered on top, if that makes sense. Some analog-style tap tempo delay and a Small Stone, and I have pretty much every clean sound I need.

That's a bang on description. The SS is less effect-y than a phase 90, and sounds better clean.

I question the 108, the H9 and the Ventilator as "Chorus" pedals. Obviously they CAN do that...I'd say a pedal that can chorus is different than a chorus pedal.

I have a Zoom g3N, A Mod Factory II, a Zoom A2, and a few other things that have/can chorus. Not Chorus pedals though.

That said - very cool pedals.EXcept for the Moog 108. All that LFO stuff scares me. Envelopes are for paying bills once upon a time ago!

I love chorus for clean riffs;

or to really kick the saturated leads up a notch; for that "REAL" 80's sound . Hehe. I only got a cheap one, a TC Electronics 3rd Dimension", but it sounds okay . Especially for it's price.

If I used chorus more often, or had more cash- I'd def. buy a better pedal though.

I would welcome your argument with the Ventilator being a Leslie sim and the H9 being a multi but the MF 108 is a straight-up Chorus stomp.

Truth be told I use it as a flanger more than I use it as a chorus. But is the only pedal I have found that can mimic my JC 100%

I'm using the EHX Clone Theory pedal. It's quite versatile with its three modes, but I'm thinking of getting another chorus pedal. Maybe something different.

This is a CE-2 clone from BYOC. This one is the kit and I didn't substitute any components in this build.

Compared to my other DIY chorus build, the BYOC kit is clearer and not quite as lush. It has an MN3007 whereas my other one has an MN3207.

Both sound great, just a little different from each other.
