Okay I finally got a new guitar after weeks of waiting for the godin and it never coming, I went to the shops played a heap of guitars, liked a few that were in my price range. But there was one guitar just out of my price that knocked me of my feet, the belman double cutaway grand, best guitar I ever played full stop. No other guitar except for an $8000 PRS i played compared to this thing. Anyways, i really wanted to buy this guitar, I had the cash, parents didn't want me to spend that much. talked them into it, and today I got it. The neck reminds me of an SG, the pickups are sweet, hand wired in aus, i'm not sure if installing seymours will make an improvement.
The bridge is like a slightly hotter more classic rock version of the custom custom. But feed it more distortion and it does some very nice chuka chuka palm mutes. It can handle classic rock to metal, but not insane screeching or anythin. So its perfect for me.
The top of the guitar is a highly figured AAAAA mountain ash, I'm told, looks like it. The headstock is gidgee, one of the nicest woods ive seen. and the body is queensland maple, which is similar to mahogany, I was told theres no tone differance, maybe its the mountain ash top but it sounds like theres just slightly less highs then a mahogany with maple top, so thats nice.
Push/pull volume knob to split coils (sounds great split), 3 way selector.
Anyway overall I'd say the guitar reminds me of a cross between a top end les paul and a SG standard but throw in a PRS in the mix. The neck pickup is fat and reminds me of a les paul, the bridge seems to me not so fat, but more like an SG, not as thin and a little hotter though.
So yeh, my favorite guitar ever, when i started shopping I never thought I'd get something this good, so im happy. No pictures yet, i will post some later, I've got a link of what the guitar looks like though, mine is a differant color. Sorry
