Got myself a new strat.

More specific a Highway1 strat in honeyblonde with a mapleneck....
Man what a sweet thing, got an org SSH pickguard as well, but I think I'll stick to the SSS, this thing is way more sweet than most other strats I ever had, and I had plenty;)
Clean work, good resonance and warmth, plenty of chewy bite and lots of sounds in this baby.
I just set the neck the way I like it and the same for the trem, you get alot of guitar out of this one.
Man I am quite pleased by this.

Re: Got myself a new strat.

the HW1 stuff is fantastic! My Telecacster is a HW1 and is also Honey Blomd with a maple neck! any plans to change much about it, or is it still to early to tell?

Re: Got myself a new strat.

Actually I don't think I want to change anything for a change:D
It really does not miss anything I can't play around for once, yeah I have my eyes on one of those Tele's too....they sound brilliant, what a fat twangy machine!

Re: Got myself a new strat.

Sounds nice. Some pics would be nice, and comparisons, if possible. I've been looking for a strat for quite some time. HW1 has been one of the main competitors (the others being a JV strat and a custom made one).

So, you're changing nothing, not even the pickups?

EDIT: So, where did you buy it from and for what price? This info's particularly interesting, when you live in Denmark and not that far from here.

Nah nothing will be changed now.
It is quite refreshing to buy a guitar and just leave it, because that is how good they are.
The ones with the SSH pickguard also sounds great, those hummers are some sweet ones, I like the singlecoils of the HW1's alot.
Classic sounds, not weak or lacking.
I thought about getting a Wilkinson trem for it, but it just works so smoothly and the sound is good, so I'll wait and see how bad the saddles wear out.
Got it for about 5000Dkr with a gigback, setup was good and I know the shops owner, we used to work in the same shop some years back.
Will get some pictures later on.

That's really great brother....The H1 strats are very cool instruments....I love the finish on them...My saphire blue strat is a H1 body...My current favorite strat out of like 6 strats that I Own...

Re: Got myself a new strat.

I hear you John...that thin finish is great, the store owners oldest kid has a guitar just like mine, had seen some good usage for a year now, looks way cool:)
Love the frets and the neckshape as well.
It is just a solid concept, hope that they will keep doing those in this quality.

Tell us some more about the neck shape and frets? Do the frets feel like good quality? Does the lacquer feel like it's going off? Did it do so with the store owner's boy/girl?

Re: Got myself a new strat.

It is a thin finish, the frets are quite good and expertly set.
It is a c in shape(not the old term c-shape) comfy neck for sure, not big nor small, just a nice overall neck.
The laquer on the body gets buffed by the steady usage, looks cool and it really ads to its open ringing sound, very very nice.
It holds up pretty well, had a few small dings and such, but solid anyways, and his guitar was also a very good unit, now that I think about it, I have not really tried a bad one, just a few that was not my taste, but they where still good guitars.
And the headstock has the right shape too:D

Rid...Any pictures of your new friend?....

Re: Got myself a new strat.

Thanks! Sounds like a really nice strat, I'm starting to think much more about it myself as well!

Please tell me if something comes up with it. How would you describe the pickups and the trem? Comparisons with duncan/fender/callaham?

Pickups...hmm very classic sounding, A5 by the sound of them, good bite, vintage sound and works well with good od's and amps, the trem is not the most expensive or deepest sounding unit, but it works and I really don't mind it, as the sound is very pleasent and the movement is smooth and it stays pretty well in tune.
You will get alot of guitar, a common trait is that none of the guitars are very heavy, and they all sound lively and has that "good" classic sound.
It compares to some of the Navigators I had soundwise, and that is quite good.

Re: Got myself a new strat.

Rid,
nice one, man!

I have an ash body, see thru blonde, with maple neck I'm working on finishing up now - kind of similar - mainly just needs a nut and set up, then I'll post some pics

enjoy
