Got the first TV Jones in my Green buddy! It's cool looking and sounding.

I'll keep this short, but I completely rewired my Green buddy yesterday as my bridge TV Jones Supertron arrived way early (he said it'd take 7-10 days to ship out from Tuesday, it arrived on Saturday :)).

Anyways, I've got the treble bleed mod courtesy of Matt (MartinSixStrings) and it sounds awesome. I also went with high value Orange Drop caps, instead of the crappy other ones that were in there before. Also upgraded to all cloth wiring. And the coolest thing? When I install the neck pup (I'll order it in August), I have two long things of wire coming out that I solder the leads onto, instead of having to take the whole rig out again. :D I'm almost smart!

You may be wondering how it sounds. Well, it sounds perfect, and I mean that with no hyperbole. I'll have more accurate results when my amps get back, but it's perfect.

So all told, took me 5 hours instead of the 16 it took last time. Somebody's learning!

Sorry the pics are big:

The old pup being taken out. Not much more to report.

The old pickup ring was about 1 mm too small on the top and bottom, so I ha to sand. Took like 2 hours, cause I only had 1500 grit. *sigh* Came out pretty good though.

Not the clearest pic, but here it is. Very good fit.

I think it looks pretty sick! Imagine a Classic in the neck. My only amp in the background (until the others get out of the shop lol).

Last, just a zoomed out view. Nothing you haven't seen before here.

Wow. Hollowbody GAS. I might have to buy that Casino with minibuckers just to keep up with you.

Re: Got the first TV Jones in my Green buddy! It's cool looking and sounding.

that looks pretty cool, it'll look really good once you get the TV Jones neck pup.

Re: Got the first TV Jones in my Green buddy! It's cool looking and sounding.

Thank you all very much! Means a lot coming from you drew lol. Although you gotta post pics of your Gretsch.

Mr Turtle, yeah it will. I'm just really happy I don't have to take the whole rig out. Matter of fact, I'll probably order the neck pup soon.

It looks great Bigal! You've spent a lot of time and effort on this project, and you've made it a fantastic guitar!

It makes me want to find some old funky guitar body and start a fun project too...maybe one day...

Re: Got the first TV Jones in my Green buddy! It's cool looking and sounding.

drew I didn't know you had a sub (stand up bass for the non-rockabillly-lingo-informed). Looks kick ass!

Corbic, thanks dude! Thank you very much. :D

You should, marcamillian. You should listen to him all day! :)

Looking good! The end is in sight now, eh? I'm impressed you've remained so patient working on this. It's driving me nuts having to wait for bits for my Tele project.

Re: Got the first TV Jones in my Green buddy! It's cool looking and sounding.

Thanks dude! End in sight!? No. Got to replace the truss rod, possibly fretboard, and definitely frets. But the truss rod is all but broken at the moment. Luckily the action/intonation isn't terrible. But it's impossible to adjust at this point.

*sigh*

In time, it'll get done. After a refret, it'll be supremely playable. It's always been hard to really play though, with the small ass vintage frets. WAY too small to play comfortable.

Re: Got the first TV Jones in my Green buddy! It's cool looking and sounding.

That guitar has become a serious labor of love for you and will definitely be a cool piece once it's done. Nice to see guys who don't buy into all the bells and whistles of new stuff :)

"I'm almost smart!" :laugh2:

Good stuff, the new pic is supreme.

Re: Got the first TV Jones in my Green buddy! It's cool looking and sounding.

By the time you finish working on that thing you'll be a full fledged luthier, lol.

Keep it up, it keeps looking cooler by the post. Just needs a pickguard (the hole really begs to serve it's function), go with a transparent one and have someone carve some designs in it. Maybe your gf's name and slap a pic of you two behind it (or if you have access to a cnc have someone carve the pic and her name on the pg).

Re: Got the first TV Jones in my Green buddy! It's cool looking and sounding.

lol I already have the guard, it's just not on in these pics. Lemme dig up a pic...

This one.

Thank you though Luis! Actually what made me so happy is that I didn't have to use the ring Tom sent me with the pup, I just had to slightly alter my ring. These rings fit this pickguard perfectly, I didn't want to muck it up.

Cool ideas though, I gotta say...
