If you know me and what monstrosities of metal that I try to play, please cast a vote.

Got more back on our taxes and so my wife said go ahead.... Around 6 or 7 bills.... I'm looking at:

1. Peavey 6505+ (I had and sold one of these just a few weeks before my Marshall mode 4 died and my Peavey XXL started acting up)

2. Marshall TSL 100

3. The elusive Mesa dual rec under 7bills.... Point me to one if you find one.

4. Other high gain, multi channel monster that I may be interested in?

I've almost clicked buy it now on a few already so make your picks quick to help a brother out.

Re: Got the green light for a new amp

I have been impressed with the Bugera offerings I have had a chance to play

Other than that

Maybe something snobbish

Morgan
Friedman

Bogner had some awesomeness

Re: Got the green light for a new amp

Can you find another Randall at that price? Maybe an old RG120ES?

For the price, I'm a big fan of the 6505+. Why did you sell yours?

Doubt you'll ever find a real Boogie Dual Rec that works anywhere near that price

If you can step up a couple hundred, you can find JVM's for just under a grand! Personally, that's where I'd put my money (if I had any...lol)

Yes lots of Randall's, but I can't jive with their voicing very well, I've owned a couple... Tougher than ****, but I like the Marshall sizzle and the peavey Ballz tones better

Re: Got the green light for a new amp

Oooohhh jvm..... Can't seem to find anything under a grand in that model.

I sold my 6505 because I felt like I didn't "need" a $700 amp.... Used the money for something else.... Had 2 "perfectly good" Solid state amps sitting there....
But things have changed a lot in a few weeks ha ha.... Troubles with all 3 amps at the house has shifted my tastes so to speak.

Re: Got the green light for a new amp

Look for a Bad Cat Cougar 50H head. It was designed by the same guy that designed the 5150. It has a very cool Mid Boost notched knob that selects different frequencies for the Mids in addition to your standard 3-band EQ. It makes the amp very versatile and the amount of gain is insane. In my opinion, it's almost too much gain as I have it set below noon for my metal needs. This amp is way underrated, and thus priced accordingly.

You could check out the Jet City Amelia.

Re: Got the green light for a new amp

Anything from the Peavey 5150 family and onwards will be amazing, why on Earth did you sell the 6505+? Those are incredible amps.
Egnater Armaggedon or Vengeance.
Jet City JCA50 or JCA100. Cheap and brutal.

No love for the Laney Ironheart from me. Plenty of channels and push-pulls but I could never ever get them to sound right, always almost there but not quite. Too stiff.
Maybe they'll work for you, what do I know? Those are modern metal amps and I don't play much of that.

Re: Got the green light for a new amp

How 'bout a 5150 III 100W 3-channel for under $800?

Also, you can grab the 2-channel JVM's for around $800 and the 4-channel comes up reasonably often for $950-$1K.

Still, I'd grab that 5150 III and give it a spin for the price!!!

Re: Got the green light for a new amp

That 5150 is the same exact amp as the 6505 right?

Just Eddie moved to different company.

I think I'd rather have Peavey logo than evh logo. Just my personal tastes.

Re: Got the green light for a new amp

No, they are quite different. Definitely in the same family, but you could say that about dozens of Marshalls ;)

You should look into the 5150 III. The internet is your oyster

Re: Got the green light for a new amp

Plus, the big-boy 5150 III that I posted is 3-channel. Obviously not a 5150/6505 clone on that fact alone :)

Re: Got the green light for a new amp

Really taking a hard look at the Egnater Armageddon. Never been on my radar before.

Re: Got the green light for a new amp

Like previous posters have said, the EVH 5153 is WAY different than the Peavey 5150/6505. I have the 6505 212 and the 5153 50W head. The 5153 is a lot more versatile. What size amp are you looking for, under 50w, 50w, or 100w+?

You're in AZ? There is a Peavey 5150 ($600) and a Peavey 5150 II ($750) on Craigslist in PHX.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/EVH-5153-5...302438?hash=item2ac934ba66:g:SwkAAOSwmwFces3A

https://www.ebay.com/itm/EVH-5150-I...907394?hash=item23b6dec242:g:kEkAAOSwZ65cdA5e

The 100w are going for around 1K+.

Fair warning, the 5153 50w has a volume jump from channel 1 to 2, but you can have the concentric volume pots from EVH installed by a certified Fender amp shop.

Re: Got the green light for a new amp

Peavey XXX/3120, JSX/XXX II
Saw some Rivera Knuckleheads out there around $700
5150 III and 6505 are good amps too
Dual Rec might be thought to find, but 50w Single Recs easy to find at that price

Re: Got the green light for a new amp

I had a Krank rev 1 for a out 6 months on loan, that thing was a brutz!
