Guitar cab mic placement question

Hi, guys. I have been wondering lately, since I'm about to get back into recording, what is the best way to find the "sweet spot" when mic'ing a 4x12 cab? I figured I'd ask around here before I waste large amounts of time doing it wrong, haha!

I have heard some pro engineers put on headphones and move the mic until they like the sound.
