GUITAR FINISHES

Re: GUITAR FINISHES

That actually looks awesome! I was thinking along the lines of a ceramic glaze you would find on like a mug or something...but that stuff is completely different from what I was thinking.

I wanted him to try it just to see what it would look like...Its going to be a flat black with a black dusted figure behind the black supposedly to give it a ghosted look....im ready for him to do it, its just that the conditions have to be almost perfect for him to spray any of it, but in south mississippi, the humidity is ridiculous right now, not to mentionthe rain EVERY STINKING DAY....So, once it quits raining we can make it happen

Re: GUITAR FINISHES

So far this is what I have on the build. Still have to wire everything up and put all hardware back on and string the black strings on.

Re: GUITAR FINISHES

For even that use... why? It doesnt look unique compared to matte or satin finished paint so what would the purpose be?

Good chance the process to apply it would ruin the body, The curing temps are high enough to char the wood and melt the glue. Wood is a poor conductor an would be problematic to the application process.

Really not sure why people want to reinvent the wheel. We have guitar finishes already what advantage would there be in ceramic coating it even if it was technically possible. Some of the new poly finishes are damn hard and resist cracking and scratching very well. Is the idea to protect your guitar incase some nut rushes out of the crowd with an angle grinder and you are forced to use your guitar as a shield?

I could maybe see it if they looked unique but the dont.

Re: GUITAR FINISHES

Well if you see it IN PERSON, it looks better than a krylon finish would in my opinion. As far as quoting your post, I figured that I would allow you to see what a ceramic coating looked like when it was on a guitar, that's all.

Re: GUITAR FINISHES

Thanks. Now I'm trying to wire up 3 conductor ibanez pickups to a 5 way fender style switch and I'm confused on how to do it. If you have any helpful ideas, that would be nice. They are RED, WHITE, and BLACK.

Re: GUITAR FINISHES

I really like that finish–more of a Matte looking finish than what I was expecting when I first heard Ceramic/Pewter stuff.

And it squeals because you need my favorite combo in it–SD Screamin Demon, SD Lil Screamin Demon, and DMZ Liquifre (B-M-N) ;)

I think the squealing has to do with it having a stereo jack and the power lug not being grounded since i dont have anything hooked to it at the moment.
The ceramic coated finish is actually REALLY smooth! Smoother than any "3.99 can of Krylon" would be lol. We sprayed the back of the neck as well and it is really easy to play and smooth as well.....maybe later i will put some HOT pups in it...but for now it sounds ok if i can get rid of the dang Pig on the inside of it
