Guitar straps?

Re: Guitar straps?

I'm one who has a strap for every guitar, and I have (and have had) a little of everything... mostly leather. I recently got a Walker & Williams (bought it through Amazon) and like it so much that I think I may have found my new strap source. Heavy duty, beautiful, AND reasonably priced!

I also like the Levy's Leathers, but this Walker & Williams puts all my other straps to shame.

Re: Guitar straps?

At first, I was A)being cheap and B)misguided. I bought some nylon straps at first and color coordinated to my guitars. But. didnt like the way they rubbed on my neck and showed dirt, etc.. Plus as the quality and cost of my guitars went up, I invested in better straps. I have all leather straps now. A couple are cheap and you can tell as they are stiff and not real comfy. I had a hard time bringing myself to pay $40-60 for a strap.. But the leather Franklins I have for most of my guits are great. comfy, dont slip, etc. I do have one strap that is nice leather and has a car seat belt buckle on it. Its really cool, except, I always have to worry that the buckle will hit and ding the guitar.. It does have a ton of extra strap length that I have to clip to the strap. I could probably wear the guitar at my ankles with that one.
My others are like 2.5 inch ones but I did pop for a 4inch wide one and although I do have a strap for each guitar, I often use the wide one as it helps disburse the weight and is easier on my bad back..

And as far as the op stating its hard or uncomfy to play, I wont ridicule.. If the guitar isnt at a comfortable height or position, its difficult to play or hurts my wrists.. When I started playing, my bud called me Robert Cray, cuz I wore my guitar so high. Now, I wear it lower, but Im surely not hanging it low like Het..

Re: Guitar straps?

I dislike straps that press their own hardware against the guitar body; some (like my couch) have adequate Clearance, others will press a metal bar into the edge of the guitar. Zero hardware is preferred overall.

Great choice in wallets, Mincer :)

Re: Guitar straps?

Every guitar has its own strap here, also. But they are all the same strap, and the same color, as I usually wear black onstage, so the strap blends in with the shirt.

Re: Guitar straps?

I use the DiMarzio clip lock ones, and have been since 2011. I'm a bit of a thrasher on stage so I need something that will lock into place so I can forget about it.
They're easily removable and interchangeable with others so if I need to switch guitars I can simply unclip and swap. Also it makes wireless transmitters easy to attach as well.

I have that same one, except the main color is cognac instead of black, in my acoustic. All my other electrics have W&W in various matching colors. Very nice straps.
