I honestly don't know. When I started playing guitar, I wanted to play heavy metal (and still do), and so I bought high output pickup and fed them into a high gain amp. Now that I've discovered that I get a better sound pulling the gain on the amp back a ways, I'm not sure if I should stick with the more output, less gain approach or switch to the low output, high gain approach.
