Nice score gear ho. Couldn't even wait to look at the Heritages huh? I'm sure you will love the new guitar, and to answer your question....yes, you've hit the all time GAS low. Buying a guitar just for a set of pickups.

Are you referring to the the headstock and the stock hardware Lew? Because the cutaway and everything is identical to my LP or my dads 69.
I really like the Monacos, but the body doesn't do it for me. The way hamer does their top cutaway has always weirded me out.

Nice choice, the Studio is a killer guitar. The reason Hamer makes the Monaco with that weird looking cutaway is that it allows them to use a larger dovetail joint. I agree that it looks wrong, but it's a tonally advantageous design. If you've ever seen a Gibson tenon, it narrows at a certain point to avoid having that extra bit of wood in the cutaway. Hamer chooses not to do that.

Hi, I have registered again after a while. I was registered in the old forum sometime ago.
Luke Duke: I own a Heritage H-150CM and I have noticed that it's body shape is not identical to that of a Gibson LP. I don´t have currently any Gibson to compare with side by side but I find from pics a slight difference in the cutaway, in the shape of the single 'horn' to be precise:
The horn in a Heritage is more rounded, less pointed than the Gibson one. It's as if the Heritage horn had been shaved.
The visual effect is that the horn in a Heritage points toward the outside of the body while the horn in a Gibson LP points toward the headstock, parallel to the neck.
It is my impression and again, it's a slight difference.
Correct me if I am wrong.

Yes on the headstock. I was thinking more of some of the Heritage designs made before they started copying the Les Paul body shape so closely.
( I wonder how they get away with that? Gibson sued PRS over the Single Cut because, supposedly, someone might confuse it for a Les Paul!)
A buddy of mine recently picked up a very expensive Heritage Johnny Smith. I have no idea what he sees in this guitar as it is one very expensive but very stiff playing and stiff sounding guitar.
Tight, neat construction and well detailed...but just no magic. I've never really liked most new guitars, but I do like Hamers. Just personal preference...I like the neck shape and the fingerboard radius and they play beautifully for me.
And the Hamers use Duncan Pickups! :laugh2:

j/k of course! like i said...i've yet to play a heritage, but i've played some Pauls...and alot of other "high end" guitars...i've yet to find a better looking/playing/sounding guitar than a Hamer Monaco Elite!!!!! it's just plain Buttah!!! :32: :32: :32: :32:
my philosophy on things like this (if and when i ever get enough money to do it?!) is to just buy one of each anyways!!!
