Hanging guitars??

Re: Hanging guitars??

For me, the ones in the cases all have either a busted switch or a ground problem or something else not right. They’ll come out to the stands when I get around to fixing whatever the issue is.

I put my guitars in their cases between notes.

What is that white h/s/s guitar on the floor in front to the left?

If you're talking about the first picture, it appears to be a Charvel Model 6. The bridge looks like a JT-6, so that'd be 1987 or newer.

Re: Hanging guitars??

Not sure about hangers. But you might think about a humidifier if they're going to be hanging out in the open.

He's in Florida, I'm guessing the humidity thing is covered, maybe a dehumidifier to keep it below 60% or so :bigeyes2:

I got nothing on hangars, I use stands because I rent the little house I live in.

Re: Hanging guitars??

Mine stay in the case unless I am actively playing or will be for a few days. I've had a few hangers, probably still do somewhere, similar to what's been posted on the first page. Rather than going in to the wall directly, I have an idea to get a nice slab of wood, route the edges of it nice, stain it and mount the hangers on it and mount the wood to the wall studs. I probably won't do it though....lol. If anything, I'd like to get a guitar shadow box to put up for my NYC Kramer, and that's it.

Re: Hanging guitars??

String Swings in studs for me...I like the original metal base type, not the wood ones.

I have also found that if a guitar is in its case, I'm less likely to give it attention. Plus, guitars just look awesome when they're out, single and ready to mingle!

Hate to be a stick in the mud, but these static guitar hooks and garage hooks don't distribute the weight evenly on both sides of base of the headstock -The Hercules Hanger is different (shown above) and auto adjusts the angle (with it's Auto Swivel Yoke system) so it's even pressure against the head and throat so the neck and the body of the guitar is acting like a pendulum on one side -which would cause a bend in the neck.

Hate to say it, but unless you dial in a perfect offset angle on each of you garage hangers -you are stressing the **** out of your guitar neck and fretboard.

Not worth the risk IMO -buy the good ****

Re: Hanging guitars??

The String Swings swivel. Take a look at my pic - it's a Jackson headstock and there's a clear upward angle to the forked posts.

I use the same hangers for Strats, Les Pauls, reversed headstock guitars, etc. The yolk adjusts to each and holds securely.

I've been using this version of the String Swings for about 15 years. In fact, that Rhoads pictured has been hanging on one daily since it was new (~2006). Zero issues with any guitar...ever!

I wasn't referring to your pics specifically,

You give new meaning to the name slow hand then.. unless, however, you can put one in a case in 1/100th of a second....haha

As I said before tho. My wife has hated and complained about my guitars and playing for 30plus years. we now have all the kids out of the nest and a spare room in the new house. Im getting the music room to keep the gear out of site basically. she is going to poop rocks when my other 4x12 "appears"in the room from the storage shed...

I don't know how you put up with that for so long. I guess I am lucky, then- the GF loves the music gear.

Yeah, my wife does too. There was a time about 7-8 years ago when I wasn’t playing very much at all. She had asked me why not and I really didn’t have a good answer. Then one day I came home from work and she had bought a multi guitar stand and set up some guitars on it and put my amp back out. She said she missed hearing me play and thought if the guitars were out and accessible I might pick them up again....she was right.

Now THAT’S a good woman! Better treat her right!
