Hanging guitars??

Re: Hanging guitars??

Thanks to everyone for the input here. The room is finally about finished. I got the spousal unit to agree to letting me put my motocross racing trophies in it. Last step is to hang a couple of axes in there. Based on input and the fact that they close around the neck, Im going to go with Hercules hangers. One last question.. The ones from Sweetwater say short arm. Is this ok? I would think so, as the longer arm ones would obviously put more stress on the mounting if you have them hanging farther away from the wall

Re: Hanging guitars??

Why would she care about the motor cross trophies? If she hates the guitars, how much time is she spending in there?

Also, I still vote rack...

Re: Hanging guitars??

I just bought an Hercules Hanger for our practise place... But I am a bit sorry for the Deathcore band who share the place with us : They only have 8 strings guitars (Ibanez) with wide necks that won't fit it.

But all mine (7 strings, 6 strings, 12 strings and bass fit in that.)

LOL. well, she is very OCD and since this is, as she puts it, "her house" she wants everything to look nice and not be junked up, etc. Anyhow, I try to play along and keep momma happy and well, if she is making an effort after years of complaining, to give me an actual room.... I dont wanna push my luck..haha.

Re: Hanging guitars??

Hey! One last thing.. I think Im going to go with the Hercules. Im pretty sure I know the answer to this, but I want to double check. The prongs that hold the guitar do close when the guitar weight is put in. Correct?? I believe so, its just that all the pics online show them down.. And I assume the short ones will work for electrics, but prolly need a long arm one for an accoustic, correct??

And, tho I like (prefer) the idea of three screws vs 2, I will prolly go 2 as with the 3, my luck is I will get the 2 top ones on the edge or outside the stud. Vs 2, if I find the stud, Im praying, both will line up with the stud..

Thanks again

Prongs face down and swing up and close once weight is applied, locking the guitar in place and the fulcrum point rotates to center gravity on the guitar.

Use a Stud for sure -not worth the risk.

Re: Hanging guitars??

Guitars not in cases, I bought them because they look good, so I want to see them.
Guitars not hanging on wall anymore, didn't like seeing them swinging when me/someone else hitting by mistake.
Guitars now on a 7-guitar rack. Easy to grap and play, I feel they are more secured than on the wall and I can see them every day. I don't mind if the rack padding is good or not for the finish, I bought guitars to play them. Some people are taking more care about a $2000 guitar than a $20000 car.
