Glad to see you're starting the new year with some heavy distortion.

I love the Duncan Distortion!

Have a look at Curt, getting an early start for the New Year with the sonic carnage already. Another behemoth track CGord.

First impressions, apart from the fact that all of the song parts are interesting and cool, is that Mr Snare might be poking his head out a bit too much, and Mr Bass is maybe being a little shy. Also, one thought...the drop out breakdown to the clean guitar at the end is great...could that happen in the middle of the song? Then it could come back in with unholy fury. Just a thought.

Your music is scary.

Thanks gents!

Geoff, I agree on the snare & bass guit, it'll undergo some tweaking tonight & tomorrow.

Drums are a problem for me, I can only control the eq & level of the drum track as a whole; trying to get the kick loud enough means I fight the snare often. I'm not yet ready to start dealing with programming my drum parts as individual pieces, but I'm getting there.

Re. using the clean part in the middle, it was in there originally (& the twin lead portion of it is in there); it takes a concentrated effort for me to get a song whittled down to its core elements, & I still end up with a 5:55 tune. :p I might go back to my original idea, but the song wil be pushing seven minutes.

I'm becoming bothered by Soundclick's sound; it really sucks the bottom out. The original mp3 is much more powerful to me through my winamp player than Soundclick's. Or maybe it's my eq curve on my player.

Don't let me throw a spanner in the works, what you've got there is cool. Maybe a slight squeeze of compression across the drum track might catch some of that snare. As far as the arrangement goes, I guess the breakdown in the middle would have to be instead of an existing part, otherwise it becomes an epic! I'm just throwing ideas at ya!

Soundclick's sound is not perfect, they have their own compression algorithm, but it's certainly much better than MySpace. If there's an EQ curve on your player, it will definitely be making a difference. You might have to go flatsky to get a more accurate impression of how it will sound to us plebians.

Ok, remixed. Everybody's gotta listen to it again now! :p

I fooled around with the drum eq a bit more, brought the bass guit up, eliminated the 5th high-gain rhythm track, & brought 2 of the remaining 4 up to 75% L & R pan vs 100%.

Changed the clean part in the middle; I eliminated the lead tracks so it's clean only for more dynamics, put the lead tracks out at the tail end for a little weirdness, extended one chugga section, & now we're up to 6:37.

It sounds much better IMO, more weight with the extra bass, and the snare is sitting much better. It's long, but somehow it doesn't get dull. The breakdown sounds great, especially with the "there's something coming" sound in there, and it kicks off really well when it comes back in. Excellent work Curt.

I really like that. I want to start recording to my comp since I can't find a band. Where would I start CGord?

Re: Happy (early) new year! Here's a new clip fer y'all! (SH-6 content)

I bought the Line 6 RiffTracker package; it gives you everything you need to record to the pc for $190. You can then buy more amp models, pedal models, & drum tracks as you desire (I probably have three times the original amount invested in mine now). If you want a heavy sound, plan on buying the metal amp pack right away. But anyway, that's what I'm using.

Re: Happy (early) new year! Here's a new clip fer y'all! (SH-6 content)

Yeah, I love this tuning. I was using it transposed much further down, to A & then Bb, but I decided to go back up so I could stop using a .064 gauge low string. :p

Great work, Curt. Keep 'em coming.

Hahahahah:D
Zuahuhauhauhauhaua.Curt that thamg rocks my socks off:D
Strangesound is at my place now ,and we listen to it together...I dig the heaviness alot!!!
Great tune!!
Have a great year dude!!!!

Re: Happy (early) new year! Here's a new clip fer y'all! (SH-6 content)

this definately needs some vocals man. its great but a little repetative. i really like it. why don't you get a band rolling?

Re: Happy (early) new year! Here's a new clip fer y'all! (SH-6 content)

A band would be a blast, but playing out would require me to spend money on amp gear & I don't think I could give a band the time it'd need to be good. Plus I'd need to find people willing to use weird tunings & able to put up with a control freak! :D
